Amex Delta!!! OMG!!!!

This was my last "gotta have" card and today I got a mailer to apply for the Delta SkyMiles. I've been a Skymiles member for a decade. Anywho, I took a stab at it and after verification. I was approved! OMG I was approved! I'm still like OMG. I just closed 3 of my 4 subprime cards today and I got my dream card. Score one for perseverance?

Some of them were. Some of them were 2 apps for one HP. I think I have about 30 on my EX but my strategy was to app anyway so that when I go into the garden for good, everything will drop off around the same time. Now I have all my dream cards! Time to grow these TLs. I'm going to stay in the garden this time.

Lindsay what changed in your profile from when you were declined in January? I am wondering because, I was declined in December and my EX has taken a 45 point jump from lowering my utilization to less than 10%. Wondering if I should take the plunge again your story just inspired me. Congrats!!

No BKs. I've just been paying stuff off and reopening old accounts mostly.

Changes from January were my drop in utilization. Since a lot of my cards were new, they had small balances on most of them. My goal for this month was to have only 2 cards reporting a balance. Though, I did over shoot it and my util is only 2% right now but that boosted my score about 15 pts.

That's the application status site. I think my persistence put me on their radar because I've haven't received an Amex application invitation in at least 5 years.

A few more data points about the approval. My score was 648 at approval up from 639 of 3 days ago and I got the increase from my business Spark card reporting a zero balance after 57% util on the card last month. My decline from a few days ago listed score as my only reason. I'm thinking 640 is that tipping point like Synchrony.
