Approved for Chase Southwest Premier!

I applied for the Southwest Premier card earlier today, and got the 7-10 day msg. I was finally coming to the realization that it has gone far too much for far too long.

I had originally decided to stop applying back in August, for at least a year, after acquiring 5 new CCs in a 2-month period. But after about a month, I found myself in a Chase branch looking at the generous 50k offer for the Chase United MileagePlus, I applied and got approved! Right after I got home, I applied for the Chase Ink Bold, unsurprisingly, I got my first 7-10 day msg at that point. I knew I had it coming; way too many INQs in a short period of time, don't have an actual EIN business, just a little on the side selling stuff online with minimal revenue, and got denied. I thought that was all that I needed to discourage me from any more future apps. But boy was I wrong, and I just proved it today. I only made it a month without any apps again.

An hour after my app for the Southwest card today, I called the backdoor number and was asked to verify my information, and the representative came back with "Congratulations". .

I feel like the only reason I keep applying is for the bonus offers...

Congrats! I want that card so bad.....They send me an offer every week just teasing me. Then on Sundays when we watch football I swear every other commercial is for Southwest. They are taunting me! My BF just laughs. I am in the middle of purchasing a home but as soon as I close this is one that I am apping for.

Do you mind me asking what your scores and credit look like? Also, do you know what CRA they pulled? i am having issues with EQ and need to fix it as soon as I close as well.

Thanks everyone!

@cookiebird:

Yes the offer is in fact attractive, and the fact that it's expiring 10/30 made it hard for me to pass up. My scores are in the range of 710-715. 10 open credit cards, 6 of them acquired in the last 4 months, and oldest account 20 months, so I'm sure my AAoA is pretty much destroyed by now. My guess for the CRA would be TU, as Chase always pulls that for me here in IL. And it was the report with the most number of INQs: 19!!

@resilient:

CL is $6500

@john398:

Yes, AFAIK if the CL is over $5000, it's always going to be a Visa Signature. Anything less than that will be regular or platinum Visa

You can go over your credit limit, due to the bank's discretion. So, for example, say your limit is the base $5k and you want to buy something that puts you over your $5k limit. The bank will most likely contact you when the transaction is going through because it can come up as a flag. In order to prevent this, you can call Chase and have them put a note on the account that you will be going over your credit limit and no one will contact you.

As far as reporting, it would show that you're over the limit, so it is best to pay it off ASAP! However, it can also not be that big of deal if you have say-3 other $5k limit cards that reported zero. Your utilization would be at 30% if you went over $1k on the initial card. (6,000/20,000)

Hope this helps!

This will be a part of my churn next October so I can get the companion pass (hopefully still giving 50k!)...

PS Don't forget to ask about retention bonuses when the AF shows up in a year! This card tends to get anything from 3k-6k additional RR points.

Yep! The Primier card has the bonus for 6k points, which is roughly worth over $100 in travel, so it easily covers the AF. Also, I believe for this card they charge the $99 AF the first billing statement.

I mean in additional to the already given 6k points. A retention bonus is an offer the bank makes to usually offset the AF and make you keep the card.

On FlyerTalk, many people have been able to call Chase and receive additional points on top of the 6k to keep the card and not close it.

That's great! Thanks for the info.
