Amex BCE Approval Disappointment - UPDATE!!!

I haven't carried Amex in a long time as they aren't really competitive. However last week I decided on the SimplyCash Plus card for my tech startup. I was approved for 13k at the lowest apr. I figured since they already pulled my credit, I might as well go for a personal card.

I chose the BCE and got the hold message. I called today to make sure they wouldn't pull credit again and was assured that they wouldn't. I was told the app could be processed.

I was approved for 5k at 14% plus prime. This seems like such a **bleep**ty approval. The rep said I could get a higher limit when I get the card but this is really underwhelming.

Thoughts?

So I received the card today and called for a CLI on activation. I got a 3x CLI with the activation. My limit is now 15k on this card. Now that's a decent starting limit!

A $5K approval is a great start considering you can grow the CL with SP's.

What is the rest of your profile looking like (inquires, scores, recent new cards, AAoA)?

Congrats. At least you can grow the card by using SP instead of HP.

I felt the same way about my 2k SL with my recent BCP approval . I called when I got my card and tried to get an increase, but the CSR said I had to wait the 60 days. I have been trying to figure out what in my profile warrented the low SL, but I can't figure it out. I'll put plenty of money through it so I'm looking forward to a better limit soon.

Expect another HP...sorry

2 CC's will usually result in 2 HP's if not done the same day

In your case 1 biz 1 personal

Maybe you'll get lucky tho

Congrats but keep one thing in mind. That SL is TEMPORARY. In 91 days, ask for $15k (3x current limit) and you will see how quick your feelings change! This time next year, it may end up being your highest limits.
