Citi CLI NO HP & question

So excited! I got an email from Citi saying:

...Request your increase – it's easy. Simply visit creditlimitincrease.citi.com or call 1-888-830-5527 by 01/11/2014 and have your card ready. A credit bureau inquiry is not required and you'll know immediately if your increase is approved.

I clicked the link and it asked for my annual income and montly rent/mortgage. I got a $3k CLI to $13k. Yay!

***We are happy to let you know that your credit limit can be immediately increased by $3,000.00 for a new total credit limit of $13,000.00.

We did not pull a credit bureau report during the evaluation process.

Please click "Accept" to complete your credit limit increase of $3,000.00 or you can modify this amount now.***

Has anyone else seen this? I wonder if it's something new they're doing. I've always read here that Citi is always a HP. BTW, my CRs are frozen, so I know they couldn't do a HP by mistake,

Also, It's odd to me because I recently got a Simiplicity and couldn't get them to budge on the CL. So,I'm wondering if Citi will move part of the CL to another Citi card. (I know some do this, but not sure about Citi.)

If you get the email, then it should be fine. To see what would happen, I just copied the URL in the OP, was asked to login, and when I filled out the form it says something like "This authorizes Citi to check my credit", so I stopped!

It must be something that I somehow qualified for via some algorithm of theirs. One nice thing about having your CRs frozen is you don't have to worry about the "accidental" HP! I was just wondering if others here have been seeing this. Maybe it's something new they're doing.

Yes, Citi does offer these types of pre-qualified CLIs on a targeted basis from time to time. Of course, the account needs to qualify in much the same fashion when submitting a CLI request online that would still result in SP (or via phone with a rep). I got a similar email over a year ago on my AAdvantage AMEX, and it was SP as well. US Bank, Chase and BOA do this as well.

Very cool. I've never gotten one of these before. I rarely ask for a CLI because I hate to take the HP for it.

You must live right! Never heard of Citi doing anything like this before. Great CL increase. Citi tends to be conservative on CL's so you did well. Congrats.

My point wasn't so much to post about the CLI, but to inquire about the no HP. I don't recall reading about Citi doing CLIs w/o a HP. So, was just curious if it was a new trend, or if others had been seeing it as well. Hopefully more people will begin getting those emails, too.

I did a CLI with Citi earlier this month, no HP. I didn't get a fancy email though, just took my chances with the luv button.
