NFCU membership and Cash Rewards Visa

SO I apped for NFCU membership May 15th and it went pending. Received an email asking for a form of picture ID and a document that has my address on it. I sent my passport and bank statement.

Last week I froze all three CRA and forgot about NFCU. I received an email today saying that the documents I provided were not acceptable, so I did like any other myficoer would have done and called their security. Security guy said he didnt know why my documents werent acceptable as they were very clear and identified who I was clearly. I said thank you and he put me on hold. 18 minutes later he came back and apologized fo rteh long hold and said he pushed my membership through and gave me my member number.

Well I had a hard time accessing my account and called CSR. CSR went through verification questions and enrolled me online and asked if I wanted to app for a credit card. I said sure but my CR are frozen. She said not to worry that she would try to put it through. (I just wanted to see what would happen when applying when reports were frozen) She submitted my app and came back and said Congratulations you are approved for $2k APR 16.99% and your new account will be available online within 3 days.

I was in disbelief this could happen as from my understanding there was a HP for all apps. i have not received any alerts from any of my CRA, and inquiries always instantly notify me. Im guessing they used my membership app. Nonetheless I am in with NFCU after I thought there was no hope of membership.

Congrats! How do I freeze my CR's. I think its best if I do that since I cant seem to stop apping when I should be in the garden. Thank you!

I do not believe we are alowed to post links but google "Equifax Freeze", Experian Freeze, and Transunuion Freeze and you should see links that will allow you to do this online. All will provide you with a pin after you establish teh freeze. TU will allow you to choose your PIN, EQ will generate a 10 digit PIN for you and Experian is mailing me my PIN.
