GE CareCredit Automated System Approval!!!!

My mom just called and one of our dogs has gotten really sick and needs about $800 worth of care and a vet stay for 3 days. I have had the CareCredit card probably 6 years or so and it has always been at $500 and not budging. Last time I called for a CLI they said it was a hard pull and I was declined. I only had about $300 available since I had used it for my cats visits, but we like the deferred interest option for the CareCredit, especially with such a big bill.

The vet office called me and said that CareCredit usually is good about giving increases when the vets ask but wasn't sure if it would be a HP on my credit since I was an existing customer and she recommended I call and ask. Lo and behold I was able to go through the automated system, enter in my income and it asked if I was a home owner or renter. I asked for $1000 available, praying it would counter for at least the $800 we need. It came back and increased my credit line to $2300!!!!!!! That's over 4x my previous credit line!!!

I am hoping this works just like my other GE cards and was only a soft pull since my goal is no HP until after December 15th.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog, Chan. I hope everything works out OK with that. I have 2 dogs (and 3 cats) myself, and still have a $500 ($0 balance) CL with CareCredit left over from when I applied and got the account when my previous dog developed lung cancer.

Please update us and let us know if you end up with a hard pull or a soft pull, if you would. I'd love to get my $500 CL increased just to improve my credit utilization (and therefore, my scores), but I can't afford a HP right now.

Yes im curious as well. I alwsy thought care credit was a hard pull, but maybe the automated system is a soft?

GE Care Credit will be a HP even going through the system, unless they give you a auto CLI which is a SP.

Well got the alert today, it was HP. They really should specify.

Though I suppose it was a good increase so at least it wasn't wasted, but it's just the principle.
