BofA Multiple CLI with 1 HP... Mixed Results

Well, humuhumu and CC's BofA recent success with this BofA trick got the best of me, so I tried my hand at the BofA multiple CLI across my 3 cards.

I only received 1 HP (thanks to maestro07 for confirming that it would still be 1 pull with multiple cards), but the results were... decent, but inconsistent and strange.

First attempt: Travel Rewards. Starting limit: $5,000. 7-10 day message, but clicking the CLI button again showed a new $6,400 limit. That $6,400 limit now shows on my account. Attempted second and third CLIs, but 7-10 day message again. We will see if it moves anymore.

Next: Cash Rewards. Limit: $4,800. 1st try: Immediate increase to $8,900. 2nd try: 7-10 day message. Oddly, the new $8,900 limit has yet to show. on the CLI request link or on my account.

Last: BBR. Limit: $6,500. 1st try: 7-10. 2nd try: No new limit on the request screen, 7-10 again.

Things worth noting: Cash Rewards is by far the oldest account, dating back to 2009. Travel Rewards and BBR were opened early this year. So Cash Rewards has had a lot more lifetime spend, even if it's mostly just a gas/occasional grocery card for me now. I ran a decent amount of spend through Travel Rewards since it had a spend bonus... Also, I used it a good bit traveling to Mexico since it has no FTF. BBR I'm just using for one utility bill and cashing in on the rewards every year, so my spend has been very low (<$50/month). So perhaps longevity and overall usage factored into the current CLI situation.

I'm going to give an analyst a call to see if I can move some of the BBR limit to the other cards with the same HP. I don't have plans to ever use anywhere near the limit on the BBR, so it would be much better served on the other two cards, especially Travel Rewards. Not sure if I should wait for the dust to settle with the 7-10 day messages or if I should call sooner.

Congrats.. Least you got two CLI's off one HP.. Sounds pretty good to me and glad you have some success although not everything you wanted

Congratulations and I'm glad you were able to get two CLI's! Try signing in and back out of your BoA account, wait about 20 minutes, and see if the new limit is showing that you mentioned is not yet showing.

Mine took a good 15 minutes to change even when I signed in and out. BoA is slow.

A little update: The plot thickens. BofA seems to be reading my mind. I have not called yet, but Travel Rewards is up to $10,800 with a lot of my BBR line moved, which is now $2,100. Cash Rewards still shows $4,800 rather than the $8,900 I was instantly approved for last night. Not sure why--perhaps a possible WMC upgrade is holding that limit up from showing?

BoA can be strange. I hope they didn't decide to move limits around in lieu of the one CLI. They seem to make decisions about limits at times without consulting the customer. I'd call.

Update:

Talked to a Credit Analyst regarding the $8,900 not showing on the Cash Rewards. Said that because I requested the same amount twice, the first app (instant approval for $8,900) was cancelled and the 2nd app was used... after they extended the maximum I could have + shifted limits for my Travel Rewards. So no dice on that new limit since I seem to have hit my max exposure with them. I further moved limits to get everything just right.

In the end, with the decrease to BBR I ended up only getting a $1400 CLI for the HP. But since BofA requires an HP to move limits around anyway, I'm not too mad.

Final results:

BBR -> $6,500 to $2,100 (-$4,400)

Cash Rewards -> $4,800 to $5,000 (+$200)

Travel Rewards ->$5000 to $10,600 (+$5,600)
