Alliant Personal Loan and Credit Card Approved

Morning everyone,

Had an Alliant Visa approved about two weeks ago, and regular (unsecured) personal loan approved today using the same pull. I shot very low on requests for both because Alliant is way too conservative - turned down a card request previously. Their Pinnacle scoring system is an unusual system that other lenders don't really use, and Pinnacle scores are often as much as 50 points below FICO scores.

I've had the Alliant Checking and Savings for several months now, and wanted to further develop the relationship. Their CLI requests are HP though, so I won't be requesting any for at least a year.

0% rate on both purchases and balance transfers for either 12 or 18 months on the card (rep told me the duration, but I cannot recall which).

Glad to be expanding products to strengthen the Alliant relationship.

Thank you, musiclover, good to see you! Excited about my new products..... but the one that I really want is with BECU ( my favorite).

Their card is at 6.9% interest rate. Yes, please!

I too have a Checking and Savings with Alliant as well.

My plan is the further develop my relationship with them as well..maybe later in the year.

Thanks, FutCRNA! They pulled EQ although they use their weird Pinnacle score version (not FICO) to make decisions.

I do wish they offered a PLOC, but they don't seem to have one as part of their product lineup.

Happy with my current new products, though!

Let us know if your CLi request works out! i'd be interested to see how generous they are once you establish the card.

I will share that Alliant seems to be new account sensitive. I had two new Chase accounts from April, and Citi AAdvantage. Total of 3 new accounts in 2016 that are each four months old.

My new Navy Federal account is not even showing up yet, but they cited the reason that they could not increase the initial CL as " recent new accounts opened." So just a data point.

No new inquiries on EQ for a full year, if that information helps as well.

They did offer a 2.7% auto loan right over the phone with me while approving the personal loan application. The loan officer said there was an offer in my account based upon having good credit.

I'm not sure if I will take it as my current auto loan is at 3.5%. I don't know if that is enough of a difference to go through all of that. Any thoughts? I have not crunched the numbers yet.

Edit: I was going to ask if you had decided on a two-door sports car or a mini van :-)

Thanks, twin! I just got a car in March with my other credit union; Alliant made an offer today for an auto loan at a lower rate.

Apparently the special offer popped up on their end when they approved the personal loan, as I cannot see any offer on my end. I just am not sure if the slight difference in APR is really worth going through refinancing.

Plus, I love my other credit union and that auto loan is developing a good history with them, which is important.

Indeed, those offers are very top notch provided that your profile is adequate enough and the customer service is outstanding as well.

It is a very smart credit move short & long term to make this choice.

Thanks, baller4, good to see you! Limits are lower than mud but I hope they will grow. Alliant is SUPER conservative. I believe I saw someone on here recently with a very good profile get turned down outright, and someone else with a good profile get approved for 2k. That's not really the levels we're used to seeing for credit unions!

The 0% rate for purchases and balance transfers for 18 months is pretty nice to have.
