I normally don't post approval threads, but I'd like to mention this:

I applied about 15 minutes ago, and I got the screen that says they needed more information before processing the application. I was a little disappointed but then told myself what the heck, I will wait out the 7-10 days.

Then within 1 minute literally, I got a call from Capital One. The gentleman was calling from the fraud department and wanted to verify that I indeed applied for the card, and then threw a few multiple choice security questions at me. After that, he was able to verify that I was approved for 15k SL on the Venture.

So, I guess basically what I wanted to say was that if you ever get a screen like that, you might want to be close to the phone that you input in your application. They might just call you for security reasons, and they will be able to tell you within a minute whether or not you are approved.

EDIT: The guy told me over the phone that I have 3 months from the date of card activation to meet my spending requirement for the sign-up bonus. I always thought that the clock starts ticking from the day you are approved for a card. Am I wrong in this assumption or is there something I don't know?

EDIT 2: I was told I should expect an approval e-mail by now, but no such e-mails have come, and the automated status line still says application is under review and pending. The chat agent couldn't even verify anything for me either. I don't understand what's going on exactly....

For what it's worth, when I was approved for my Venture card about a year ago, they explicitly told me the 90 day spending requirement started from the date of approval.

Common sense would suggest that the clock starts when you activate your card since it's very difficult to meet spend with an account that cannot be used for anything but balance transfers (which don't count toward your bonus anyway).

Was searching for someone who has a similar situation as me right now. I got approved for a Quicksilver One with a 2k limit but have yet to receive an email, I even gave another call the same business day to a rep to ask if this is normal that I didn't receive ANYTHING about the approval in my email (checked spam folder everything) all she could really say besides confirming the email address that was noted is correct, is that I should receive a letter in the mail about the approval? Very weird and unsettling - but she got me off the phone by saying that she will send me an email about this call. Still, as you guessed, have recieved nothing. How long did it take for you to finally get SOMETHING in writing that you got approved for a card? Thanks!

OP, congrats on your approval for the Venture!! Great SL!!!

I was just approved on February 28.

1. I did not receive an approval email, although mine was an instant approval. Also, I have a QS with them currently and was able to immediately link my Venture card and add my authorized user at the time of approval (online). Edited to Add: I did receive an email when they shipped my card - two days later.

2. Ok, I started a question on the issue of whether it is from the date of activation or the date of approval. I contacted two different CSR, one by chat and one by phone. Both told me it was the date of activation. However, myfico members questioned this. So, I chatted two more times with two different CSRs and was told it was from the date of approval, not the date of activation and they even gave me the meet by date of 5/28.

Here is a link to my thread. http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/Venture-40K-in-3-months-Question/m-p/4880634#M1424661

Hope this helps.

@Anonymous wrote:
Thanks!

When I was approved for the QS in late August. At this time, I did not have any accounts with Cap 1. I did not receive anything until 9 days later, when I received an email stating that my card was on the way. The card arrived a couple of days later. Like you, I called a couple of times just to make sure that I was actually approved and double check my credit limit. No worries. It will be on its way and you will get it soon.
