Will Chase upgrade existing cards to Sapphire Reserve - Update: CSR Approved

Just curious if this is possible. I'm pretty confident I would qualify for the Sapphire Reserve but trying to avoid too many new accounts. I already have Slate and Freedom. I don't use the Slate much but the account is 19 years old and definitely helps AAoA. It was product changed once already and kept the original member since date.

Under most scenario, yes. Except there are some rules of exchanging to high annual fee cards....

as long as the card is over a year old you "should" be able to upgrade.

Also the csr comes with a minimum limit of $10K so your slate card would need to have at least that much to product change straight out. If not you'll have to take a HP and ask for a CLI.

The Slate has a 12,600 CL but I'm going to ask for a CLI at the same time. I don't really need 3 cards with Chase and I'm trying to keep new accounts to a minimum. This might work out.

Not a good idea to ask for CLI when you apply for new card. Do it later.

Think they might have been implying it's not good to ask when already requesting a PC, but I could be wrong. I know Cap1 told me no to a cli I asked for while having my platinum changed to a quicksilver so maybe chase has a similar "one change at a time" policy?

I stopped in my local branch on the way home today to ask about the change. The Chase rep told me they don't allow Slate to Sapphire Reserve product change. After discussing with her I decided to just apply for the new Card.

For the good news I received instant approval with a nice 34,700 CL. Definitely made my day.

Can you convert a Amazon Chase to a Sappfire? I have the Amazon Store Card, so I would still get the 5% discount. I have a Amex Platinum and Barclays Black Card. I was thinking of changing my Amex to Green card. I don't use it much as the rewards stink.

I recently PC'd my CSP to the CSR card. I had to move some available credit around (in lieu of requesting a CLI) because the CSR has a minimum CL of $10K. But that was easily done and the whole transaction took only a few minutes over the phone.

Of course, if you PC to the CSR, you don't get the bonus points. But I was recently approved for the Chase Ink Business Preferred through my CPC banker, which comes with a 100K UR points bonus!

I'm not sure why your PC wasn't possible (I'm sure I've seen others PC a Slate) but in any case congrats on your new approval!
