Victoria Secret Shopping Cart Trick Approval

Made it 3 weeks in the garden. Clearly it wasn't for me, haha.

While I am not a fan of store cards, I do think a few can useful if to places one actually shops. Hence my Amazon, AE and now, VS.

I received the pop-up at checkout that said I was Pre-approved for $750.00 (Decent SL for VS, so I hear.)

I noticed it had the "soft pull" language of just needing DOB and last 4 of SSN, so I didn't feel too badly about checking out the offer. I know sometimes these can result in a hard pull after the fact, but here is to hoping. I would have apped for it at some point anyway.

Came back as automatic approval for the promised $750.00

Happy for this because it will pad my ulilization a tad while I pay off a large purchase of the next few months, shouldn't add any HP to report, still will have my AAoA over 2 years, and should push me into a better scoring threshold I believe for having 9 accounts (correct me if I'm wrong on this).

Data points:

*Scores in signature

AAoA: 2 yr 4 mo

Uti: 76%

Inquiries: 1-2 across all reports

No lates, negatives, etc.

Have credit mix of loans, store cards, bank cards

Scoring thresholds are 1 credit card, 2 credit cards, 3 credit cards and then nothing until 5 credit cards all 24+ months old. So you won't really get a boost for this unless your aggregate utilization is over 8.9% and this brings it down below that.

But if it's a useful card for you, congrats!

Interesting about the cards scoring! February will put me at 5 CC's 24+ so I'll keep a look out

Awesome! 24 months is when pretty much every FICO aging "penalty" goes away (other than inquiries which starts at 6 months and is scoreless at 12 months). So at 24 months those cards should be worth a little bit more.

Keep your AAoA over 24 months always and you won't get dinged majorly for low AAoA either.
