That's a stellar limit beginning for Citi, I wouldn't like your chances of getting it immediately raised. However, give it 6 months and you might have a shot!

Hey guys. Applied for Citi Double Cash and got approved with a credit limit of $11,000. I have the CapOne QuickSilver with 1.5% cash back. But why not get that extra 0.5%, right? I'm happy with the limit. Although, I'm wondering if I should call the backdoor and check if they would be able to increase the limit. I have an Amex BCP with $50,000 limit, Alaska Airlines with $21,000 and CapOne QS with $13,000. What do you guys think? What are the chances of getting a higher limit with Citi right after application? Thanks in advance!

I don't have any insight for Citi as I have no history with them. I dont think it seems unreasonable to call and ask. Like you mentioned you do have higher limits that supports your ability to handle a larger CL.

In any case congrats! The Citi Double Cash is definitely on my list once Im out of the garden for now I'll just celebrate others being able to snag one

That is a VERY good SL with Citi for that card.. Alot of people with bigger limits on other cards than yourself (although impressive limit on one amex card) get much smaller starting limits on that card. If you don't think that is a good SL once you get the card you can call and ask for a CLI although it will be another HP against your CR

Thanks guys. If it will take a HP for CLI, I'll let it be. I'll wait for the luv button to show up on my account in a few months and try then. Thanks again.

Congrats. I’m in agreement with the sentiments of the others here. That type of SL on a DC card is pretty extraordinary.

That's a really superb SL for Citi Double Cash. My Dad was approved for one with 835 FICO and his SL was only $5,000. Very nice for you and congrats but an immediate credit increase would result in another HP.

I was expecting a CL of upwards of 10,000 due to my credit score in the 790s, but I didn't know it's so difficult with Citi. I'll wait for a few months before asking for an increase. Thanks again guys!

My DC approval was for $4500 back in May. It's up to $8000 now.

I took a HP when I first got the card and asked for a CLI. I kinda wish I hadn't. A few weeks later, I saw the soft pull language on the CLI request page, but couldn't get it because they make you wait 6 months between CLIs. If I'd just waited a few weeks, I probably could've gotten the same CLI without a HP. I finally hit the 6 month mark last month, and got another CLI no problem.

So yeah, don't blow a HP for a CLI, especially with Citi. A little bit of patience will get you easy SP CLIs.

And yeah, $11K is crazy good for that card. They like you already.

As others have said, 11k is really very good for this card. You don't see that too often. I would leave it be and just for a SP CLI later. Even those with very good scores often see 4-6k type starting limits with the DC.
