Amazon Store Card Bumpity Bump

so... I totally blame ALL of you for this. =)

Started off as a virgin card July 2017 at $1600. Bump to 5k in October via luv button and just now via a Credit Solutions 5 minute call, TEN BEEG ONES!

Seriously thanks to all here for this. I couldna-dunnit without ya and the smarts (and sometimes pain) everyone shares.

However now, I'm going blender shopping...

I hear you! My store card's limit was $5K (now $6K) for a couple of years, and I went a little crazy with it. At one point I had like $4,800 of promo purchases on it, but managed to pay it all off before accrued interest reared it's ugly head!

Now I just use my Prime Visa to get my 5%, and I pay in full on it, so I never lose the value of the rewards by paying interest.

Shhhh! that's my secret to successful CLI's. Give them more money than they expect so they feel sorta guilty and give me a higher limit!

Congrats! Just got an increase myself. Did you call them instead of the luv button for a reason? Was there a negotiation over the amount?

After reading how easy it was here to deal with Credit Solutions on the phone I thought I'd give it a shot just for giggles. Amazon Store Card CLI's seem to be tied to a (roughly) 4 month wait as long as your TU score is strong. I'd seen a huge jump in my TU score in Dec and have been waiting till now to ask for the increase.

The lady on phone was polite but curt in her greeting, I said I was interested in possibly increasing my card limit. She asked the same questions that come up when you hit the luv button (net income after taxes and such) and then asked how much I wanted. I said "10k" with a slightly squeaky voice (double my current amount) not wanting to be greedy or anything. I'll never spend that much on Amazon but hey... what the heck right? She asked if she could put me on hold and check my credit. I asked her clearly if it would be a soft pull and she said yes. 30 seconds later she came back on and said "I'm happy to say you now have up to 10k available on your account!". *whoooooooosh* *breath deep* After saying thank you so much and hanging up I refreshed my Amazon account (I had it open when I called) and there it was.

Doubt that I'll ever ask for more but the process was simple and kinda fun.

Thanks for the rundown. I wonder since there was no counter you would've gotten more if you asked. Do you use the card a lot?

We average about $300-500 a month spend.

And I wondered that as well.

Holy cow, 844 and income to boot, 30 seconds wait time, you could easily get a 25k Amazon limit with those stats . Id wager if you called again and asked for 15k, you'd get, 30 secs flat haha. Hi Im 30 Second Tom

I attempted to contact them via chat to confirm if it was a soft or hard inquiry and the rep only said that it was determined by the system and that they just assume it's a hard inquiry to be on the safe side. I opted not to request a limit increase at the time.

Nerp!... My credit-beer-mug is plenty full atm with Amazon, soooo...I'm gonna leave the extra 15K in there for you!
