Hi all,

I've been stalking this forum for quite some time without actually registering. I recently bought my first house back in December and have been needing to make some improvements.

I noticed that Lowe's is currently offering 10% off using your card (yesterday and today only!) and I need to buy a lawnmower, etc. for Spring. While my credit isn't the best, (17% util. across accounts... 90% on a US Bank Platinum ($4200 limit)I used for a balance transfer offer, about 40% util. on Best Buy Citi Card (using 24 months no interest offer on appliances, $6k limit), and 30% reported util. on AMEX BCE ($10,300 limit, some large purchases for the house, will be paid off after my next paycheck). I took the plunge.

Instant approval for $1k. Reported a 719 FICO. I called in and informed them I bought my first house and have some major purchases I have planned. They asked how much I would like for my limit; I threw out $10,000 assuming they would counter. Nope. "Done." was the response.

Holy! 10x of your SL! Nice CLI. I'm gonna get their card too after my mortgage. Lowe's isn't cheap but if they have any good offers I will grab it.

If I have a list of projects I make my supply list and wait for Lowes to offer 12 or 18 months no interest then buy everything at once. Just make sure you pay it off before your offer expires or you will pay interest back to day one.

When I need something inbetween the big projects I just take advantage of the everyday 5% off and PIF.

We did just need a new washing machine and dishwasher that we purchased at lowes. No interest free offers from lowes and we had to have them. So I used my brand spanking new Discover 1% cash back + cash back match for 1st year, and I am taking advantage of the 0% for the 1st 14th months.

I tried to the same thing that you did. I just got approved for the Lowes card and was approved instantly for $1000 this past week. I just called to try to get a CLI and got the automated system. I asked for $6000 and the system said that my card was not eligible for an increase at this time.

Thanks for the congratulations! I was certainly surprised. I honestly was a bit worried about applying for it, but when I read about the CLI upon calling in, I decided to give it a try, especially with the 10% off offer today! Saved $50 on yard equipment with the card today!
