Hi everyone,

After asking for help in the Application section, I thought I'd share my experience as I hadn't find much relevant for my situation before!

Arrived in the US in July 2017 in the US for employment. I'll be travelling a lot and wanted to benefit as soon as possible from Travel Rewards. I narrowed my choices down to the CSR and AmEx Platinum to start (I need to be able to redeem to Flying Blue and CSP not an option as I don't want to be locked with it for one year and lose the CSR signup bonus).

My situations:

Income low $100k

Opened first CC with BofA (secured) in Sep 2017 with $300 CL, I have 6 months credit now.

Paid the card several times per month, 100% on time and sub $20 balance reported on my credit reports.

Increased deposit on the BofA CC in Jan 2018 to $1000

Opened Chase checking and savings (with considerable initial deposit) in Jan 2018 and switched all my banking there.

Just got approved for Chase Freedom Unlimited with $2200 CL (unsecured).

FICO scores form Experian website are 708 EX, 735 EQ, 724 TU (new Chase CC not yet reported)

Inquiries 6 on EX, 1 on EQ, 4 on TU

Nothing else to report.

Applications:

- CSR: went to a Chase branch, was advised it was a long shot but not impossible - we tried it and I got denied after talking to CSR and asking for a review. CSR pulled Experian only.

- AmEx Platinum: so I went with my choice #2, the AmEx being a charge card I understand they are less worried about thin credit histories. I signed up and got approved instantly! AmEx pulled Experian only.

Very happy in the end, I liked the CSR more for the dining rewards and easy travel credit redemption - but the AmEx will do just great for this year!

Congratulations on growing your credit. BoA should graduate your CC with them.
