A measly $1000 from $500 to $1500. I only have one 3-digit limit card left.....Chase Slate (useless card). The way I app, I’ll never be up for a Chase Card. I guess I’ll plan on Chase cards for retirement in another 12-15 years. Oh well. Lol

Yeah that is surprising AJC. Is your profile still fairly young OP? Most of those I've seen intiate the HP CLIs get 5x that or more. My AAoA is shorter than yours.

The big CLIs come from the hard inquiry requests. So more than likely you will need to think about an HP to get a decent increase. As a side note, I have never received an automatic CLI (over eight years) but did do and HP on two accounts and they were each over $3K to $4K and likely could have been more but I left money on the table. It was worth the HP for me.

USAA takes many things into consideration when they assign limits on their cards; rank in military (rumour); overall membership usage (checking, savings, loans, insurance) as well as use of the current limit. If your card is sockdrawered then it probably isn't seeing much action.

You've also opened 9 new credit cards (that report to your personal bureaus) within the past year; that could have something to do with it too.

Not too get off too much the topic...but your cards were mostly opened in 2011-2013 then suddenly an app spree. What made you do that? Sign up bonuses? Just curious...not judging or condeming you.

I automatically assumed it was a hard pull but I never got an alert. Just checked Experian and no inquiry from USAA.

The reason for the app spree last year? I refinanced my house, paid off debt so I figured I’d treat myself to some extended credit if I needed it. It’s well deserved; I work hard. I only have balances on 3 or 4 of those cards. I only use the valuable ones for points. Going to Ireland in July, Dominican Republic, next year. I want to start doing some traveling so I’m using the cards for free hotel and travel perks.

Also, this forum has a lot to do with what I’ve done the past year. I’m learning so much. I’ve went from about $20k in available credit to almost $100k. I’ll probably be gardening for a bit and let the accounts age. There’s really nothing else I need right now.
