Discover Unsecured + Big CLI!

Well days after my 7th statement from my discover card lo and behold boom! My card was unsecured and I got a boost from my $200 to $2500 CL!! I had no idea this would happen after reading all the stories on here about having trouble getting discover to bump CLs!! I currently have 735 EQ, 736 TU and 743 EX so not sure if that's what helped it or not. I guess the only question for now, should I try to convert it to the 5% category card or wait til my cashback match ends in October??

Congratulations! Your hard work has paid off in a big CLI.

Good scores like those will bring more opportunities. Do you mind posting starting scores? It seems you've made great progress.

I don't know about PCing your card to DiscoverIT. I've seen posts about Discover only allowing 1 new card per year. Hopefully someone will post whether they think you should app now or later.

I got the card back in late October 2017, my ficos then were EX 650 TU 642 EQ 620. Honestly the main thing that really helped was just getting my utilization down to 20% and then all my rehabbed loans finished in April so that was really the big thing. Amazing what a deleted delinquent account can do

WoW... you increased your EQ score by 115pts in 7mos, and your EX & TU just under 100pts!? That is awesome! That's you, not outside factors. Your investment into yourself, your credit, has paid off.

AverageJoe seems to be the guru of Discover... hopefully he will post re your card questions.

Wonderful job on unsecuring your card and a very nice cli. Discover as we know can be fickle and will show love to some faster than others but you really never know until you try. I understand that if you have a Chrome card and wanted the 5% you can call in and request the change. Seeing as you will almost have a full year, I'd probably wait and than perhaps even app a second card to try and get double cash back promo.

Keep an eye out on the Discover prequal page. In the end, you are on the right path. Give Disco a call if you need to change anything or see if it's possible. Though csrs, they are a very nice bunch to deal with

Thanks for the great info!! I was kinda figuring I should wait til the full year is up. Is there anywhere I can get an idea of the categories or is it not announced til beforehand like chase cards?
