My FICO score was a 550 3 years ago based on several collection credit card accounts and student loan late payments (I was a naive kid in my 20’s with no conception of credit) I made a decision then to fix my credit so that I can get approved for a mortgage at some point. I started by paying off nearly $10,000 in credit card debt and getting my student loans set up with autopay. I then opened up a secured credit card with a $400 deposit. While paying this card off in full monthly, and continuing to pay my student loans on time every month, my credit started to slowly climb. I then started to notice some collections and derogatory marks being removed from my reports. I applied for a TD BANK CASH card last year and was instantly approved for a card with a 4K CL. That sane summer I was approved for a Bloomingdale’s card with a 1k CL. My credit score was at approximately 620 when I got approved for these cards last year.
After a year has gone by my FICO Experian score is at a 673 and was just given a Raymour and Flanagan credit card with a $8,000 CL. My Bloomingdale’s credit card was also just increased to a $4,000 CL.
I have read multiple things about an average credit score needed for the Chase Sapphire Reserve to be around the 720-740 range. I have an income of $120,000 per year but I have no prior Chase credit cards I was really intrigued by the 50k bonus sign up bonus and all of the other perks that come along with the CSR. I just applied a couple of hours ago and was instantly approved for an $18,100 Credit line with the card.
I just wanted to share my credit journey and experience with getting approved for the CSR. You can be approved for this card with no prior relationship with Chase and with an average 673 FICO score through EXPERIAN. I was honestly pleasantly surprised getting approved and super excited to have this card. Can anyone give me any other feedback on their likes/dislikes with this card? Thanks!!

Congratulations on your CSR approval! I use mine almost exclusively for all travel and dining expenses. The CSR gives you three UR points for each dollar spent on those expenses.

Those categories are interpreted broadly. For example, dining includes Starbucks, Subway, fine dining, and everything in between. Travel expenses includes anything remotely connected to travel, such as rental cars, airport parking, airline tickets, train tickets, etc.

Other cards are better for non-travel and dining expenses. But for travel and dining, few cards beat the CSR! Good luck.
