? Cap One EO hard pull

I contacted the Cap One EO last week for a CLI haven't heard anything yet from them other than a call from Ivan saying he would look at things for me. Tonight a HP showed up on TU ..............is this what they usually do?

I would assume, if you ask for a CLI via the EO route or online it will result in a HP. That is just my assumption, asking to upgrade to Quicksilver would be a different story. But you were asking for a HP, with that move. Going through Customer Service, EO, or Credit Service asking for a CLI online over the phone or on the internet will yield similiar results.

Just like Macys, mostly SP.. then again have been known to HP. I could go on with others. But 95% of the time, they will check the credit report... and you never really know. But going to the top of the food chain with EO, you were asking for trouble

WAIT... False.

Capital One does NOT do hp for cli requests especially for Executive office.

they have actually been very clear about saying this to all customers with no waivering

They did a soft pull for my upgrade / CLI request. However: before I got my upgrade, I had applied for a QS (didn't know I could upgrade) and was instantly declined for having "too many Cap One accounts". When I mentioned it to the EO, he said they could look into that as well. He assured me it would be a SP but later underwriting did a HP. (declined btw)

I mentioned it to the EO and he was shocked and unhappy about it, because he assured me it would be a SP. He looked into it and I forgot the reason he gave me as to why they did a HP but he felt really bad.

My CLI request was a SP. I found the EO to be wonderful to work with. Maybe if you ask kindly they will be willing to re-code the inquiry to a SP. If they say they cannot do this, then maybe use this as a time to ask for a lower APR. It would be worth a HP for savings in the long run.

It's not what they usually do but always expect a HP anytime you do an CLICK to avoid any surprises. Not every CSR will follow the guidelines nor will they always reverse the HP. By law they can pull an HP anytime you agree to any type of credit change so be aware.

How did you contact Cap One EO? I only ask because quite a few of us who contact Cap One EO do so via email and from that receive a follow up phone call. During this phone call they usually ask a few questions in order to send the CLI request in for a manual review Two things I remember during these calls, one the call is recorded and two they state it's a SP. I understand that by law it could be a HP but if it was stated during the call it would be a SP then hopefully Cap One would honor what you were told during the call.

Either way I hope it works out for you. If they absolutely had to do a HP hopefully you'll receive the CLI.

No further calls from the EO yet but checked my accountline line and had received CLI increase on 2 of the 5 Cap one cards I have......they went from measly 300 & 400 tp 1,000 CL each, ......that's OK for me since I wasn't able to get a CLI through regular channels. These were old HSBC and Orchard cards that transitioned to Cap One. I hope I can get cli on the other 3 Also transition cards. They have CLI of 1,150, 1000, and 700...... Also was able tp PC all cards to Quicksilver One. I know thes are low limits, but I have had these for a long time. I have better cards with 3-5k limits so I'm OK with cards with only a 1k limit. Thankx to the folks here telling me about the EO

I talked with the Cap One EO today and they ended up giving me 3 cli and PC all my cards to Quicksilver ONE........too many inquiries and balances on too many cards even though the balances are less than 100 dollars.... learning a lot from hanging around here. I have heard that the Quicksilver series are CLI friendly after 6 mos.....we will see. I'm also gonna keep small balances off of a lot of cards. I had heard it was best to maintain a small balance......guess that is not true always.

Cap 1 seems especially sensitive to balances and UTL.

For best scoring, have all of your cards report a 0 balance and have only one card post a balance of 1-9% of that card's limit. Next time you ask them for a CLI you'll probably get a decent amount if you can do those things! Congratulations on the successes you did have with them!
