Discover CLI 4 times!

Within the past month and a half, Discover has agreed to increase my credit limit 4 times! (All through either calling customer service or starting the request online.) For over a year, my credit limit was $1,000. I called and got it increased to $2,000. Then, I called and got it increased to $4,000. Following that, I requested $12,000 and was flat out denied. Called a few days ago after hours, requested $15,000. They told me that they would forward it to a credit analyst. I got a VM asking to call them back. I called and got approved for $9,000. When I was on the phone with the credit analyst, she encouraged me to apply again. Waited two days, and started a CLI request via chat today. I was given the number to speak with a credit analyst. She did some calculations and approved me for $13,000! That's a 13x credit limit increase in a month and a half! I love Discover!

I've had the card since 6/3/2012. I've run a lot through the card, and was lucky enough to get a bonus that allowed me to pay off the card completely in late November. Since then, I've been running a lot through the card and making large payments. They seemed a bit sketched out by the CLI requests for the $4k (approved) and $12k (denied initially) but now they seem a bit more okay with things. I guess once you get up into the higher numbers, it seems like less of an event. (They've already committed to exposing themselves to quite a bit of risk, so what's a few thousand more?)

That ish cray. Was this all SP are some HP's in there what they mean apply again was the applying part HPs? Just got a IT card last week it's going to be atleast 6months before I even think of asking for some love; Discover seems like a lady that's going to make me wait

Good point. I still have my inital approval amount and thinking about applying for a CLI sometime around June. From this forum it seems that Discover tends to be very conservative with their credit limits but so far I got a ok limit with them. Only time will tell I guess
