PNC Cash Builder Rewards Visa approval

Over the last week I've been suddenly and aggressively getting offers for this credit card through email, ATM and mail offers. I'm a current PNC banking customer(been with them since 2010) and after starting my credit rebuild last April my plan was to get a credit card with them at some point. I know their pretty conservative and inquiry sensative but after getting the multiple offers(w/ reservation code) and seeing the fixed APR rate I bit the bullet and applied.

Instant decision, $4k starting limit and 16% APR. Im surprised seeing as their APR is nearly half of wwhat my other prime cards are(Disco & AMEX are at 26% APR)

Scores at the time of approval were roughly around 685 EX, 675 TU, 673 EQ.

Also opened an AMEX SPG at the beginning of August w/ a $1k SL.

CUrrent plan is to pay off and close my QS1 down garden for a while.

Still surprised with my SL as my Amex cards are $500,$1k,$2k SL’s, my Disco is currently $1,950 limit, and my QS1 is still sitting at $500

That’s a really nice APR especially if you’re rebuilding. Keep it up you will be in the high achievers club in no time.

BTW I know that QS1 has a 39.00 AMF, you can always call Capital One and inquire about upgrading your card. No hard pull, and it’s definitely possible you can upgrade to a card that doesn’t have an annual fee.

Thank you! Im still surprised the APR is as low as it is with the higher starting limit too! Guess it pays to have banking relationships with your bank.

As for the QS1- I have tried multiple times since my card graduated in January to product change or get the AF waived with no success. As this point im just debating on paying off the small balance and closing it down since it seems it may just sit in the bucket

I’m in VA and and PNC pulled EXP for me, not sure about other states where PNC is located as I have not checked out the creditpulls database

It can take a while before they offer a product change. My quicksilver I had for 2 years (was just the MasterCard platinum) before I could upgrade, and I have another MasterCard platinum opened for almost a year or very close to it, that is not eligible for upgrade at this time.

I do know they like to see a good amount of usage before considering an upgrade. If you can Util aprox 30 percent and pay the previous statement balance off every month that would be the best option.

What month is the fee assessed? It might be a good idea to wait 1-2 years and use the card a good amount, and then get an upgrade... 80 bucks over 2 years to keep oldest trade line open might be a good investment

I’ll have to check an see what month the fee is assesed as I’m not quite sure.

I do use the card pretty frequently and pay off in large amounts. I generally have used upto 75% and payed down to under 28.9%.

Guess ill just have to wait and see

Just wanted to throw a quick update out:

Been on the whim all weekend about asking for another CLI on my QS1 or going bold and applying for another capital one card to combine my QS1 with

Ended up doing the prequalify check through their website and to my surprise I was pre-qualified for the Savor, QS1(already have), and the Venture One all with solid(albeit higher) interest rates. Usually it was always the Platinum or QS1 in the past.

To my surprise I was approved for the Venture One w/ a $5k starting limit and 0% APR for 12 months, the jumping to 23% APR after a year! Still surprised and very happy as I will now be gardening for a long, long time!
