Amex Cash Magnet 15K SL approval, Previously Blacklisted

Shocked to find myself pre approved for an amex card today, i check their site a couple times and year and occasionally apply for a card. never have i had them pull my credit or show pre approved. so i decided to pull the trigger and to my shock they approved me for 15k @18.9%. not my best card by any means but i'm just happy to be back in with amex.

Back in 2011 Amex was IIB and i never thought they would approve me again so soon in amex's eyes.

Congrats! Can you also list a few more data points for those that have burned Amex so they have a reference please?

How much were they burned for?
Bk 7 or 13?
If 7, did you pay them back?

I read an article about American Express trying to expand it's market and authority. Perhaps they are slowing getting rid of the blacklist.

Who knows?

It was an BK7 filed in early 2011. roughly 5-6k IIB for Amex and i never did pay them back.

My brother was on Amex blacklist.

I tried to add him as an AU, but he was declined on my Amex personal cards, and approved on my Amex business cards.

I will pass this info to him since his score is now in the 700s, and the incident was more than 7 years ago.

By the way I’m assuming Amex CO’d your acct prior to your BK. Was it sometime in 2008 if you could still remember?
I’m trying to put pieces together as the prevailing DP of the Minimum 10 YR BL if Amex burned for $5K or less.

I’ve actually done a lot of Amex BL reading for years now and one DP that stands out on all those that got back in with them on or just about past the 10 Yr mark is that they only burned Amex for around $5K or less (Didn’t pay back a penny).

Amex also CO’d my acct in 2008 and I IIB’d them in 2011. Not expecting to get back in with them in this life as I burned them quite heavily!
