Target CLI Long Time Coming (UPDATE 6/6/19)

Wasn't going to post about it, but Target is one of those cards that people can't figure out. Not sure what happened with me.

Thought I forgot to pay my Target for this month and logged in to find that they doubled my limit from $300 to $600. I've had the card since 2015 with no movement. It's also the card I have all my lates with due to login issues. They refused to goodwill. Last late payment was November 2017. Card was at 70% UTI and I was planning to close it by next year. I use it fairly regularly and have always carried a balance. Because I was paying it down to close it, the last time I used it was 10/16/18 and I was paying the minimum. Last time I updated income was end of September.

Datapoints suggest that once you get your first CLI, they start to happen regularly. Since I'm curious, I'll continue to pay it off and leave it open to see what happens.

- 95% Utilization because of Christmas and not a priority to pay off.

UPDATE 3/8/19: Logged in yesterday to make sure my payment posted and saw I received another $300 CLI. That's 3 months from the last one. Curious if it will continue in 3 months. Data points below.

UPDATE 6/6/19: Logged in to make my payment for July and saw my available balance was +$300. Was falling asleep and now I'm wide awake. 🤯 As you can see from the last update, it's basically been 3 months. Hoping in 3 months I can upgrade my train ticket for the open loop bullet train. C'mon Target! I'm carrying a balance with UTI at 89.77777777%. Not a priority to pay off so the balance will be staying. Last updated my income right after the last increase. New credit line total is $1200

Congrats man, that’s how it started for me - 2-1/2 years of no movement while I carried a balance the whole time. Suddenly I got my first one to $700, and from then on it’s been twice a year or so, always $300-400, until right before thanksgiving when I got an $800 bump to land me at $2900. I’m hoping this CLI means you’re now on the train.

Just keep using it - if my 6-7 auto CLIs are evidence of anything, it’s that they like usage and don’t care about carrying balances.

Congrats!!, Let a balance report, and update your income every time you request a CLI. Works for me every time

I think part of my success has been updating my financials a week before the statement closes. I do it every month in the mindset that maybe it’ll spur them to increase me.

Very nice - looks like you may finally be on the pathway now. Like I said up above, update your financials during the billing cycle and it may prod them to throw you another bone on a regular schedule 👍
