Chase CSR 30 day wait - Update: Approved

I applied for the Chase CSR about 4 days ago and got the dreaded 30 day message. I was slightly shocked as I only have 1 inquiry for a car loan 6 months ago and my utilization was about 5% and my credit score through all 3 bureaus were 790-805.

After reading a couple similar posts and the recommendation to call the verification department to see if they need to verify me, I decided to give them a call, the lady did indeed ask to repeat a text message she sent me but after that she said I need to wait 1 to 2 weeks longer for the results. I assumed usually after they verify you, they give you either an approval or denial, or was I misinformed? Does this seem like a denial to you guys? I want this cc asap so I can make some big purchases that will go towards the 50k promo! (need some new golf clubs hehe).

In your case, identify verification was required prior to app. being considered for approval.

You can call automated line to check status. I would not call them again.

The only time you should call Chase to speak directly with an underwriter is when the Status Line (Robolady) message changes to 7-10 days. That message means that Chase either needs to verify your identity or that they have denied you outright so you can start the recon process then.

Any other situation is too risky; you get an underwriter on the wrong day and you could be subjected to intense questioning. You probably did not hurt your chances by calling, but you certainly did not do yourself any favors. Calling in that quickly makes you look desperate which isn't a good look when you're seeking credit.

Your application has to be reviewed manually by an underwriter which can take a few days. The text message you read back was the verification that you're the actual applicant so there's no need to contact them again. Just be patient and wait for their decision.

+1 At this point it's just a waiting game. The application probably just needs an actual human being to quickly review the app if you haven't been approved yet. Good news is if you got this far your odds are pretty good you're looking at a new card before long.

OP, were you preapproved for the CSR or was it a cold app?

To everyone else, thank you for the valuable information! Will it still be ok to call the automated line for status update or is that risky because they might note I'm checking too often?

Nah, you're good to check that often. If you want to feel safer about it I'd would just call 3 times a day: morning, afternoon, and evening like meals lol.

A cold app could be a major reason for the delay since someone has to manually go over your application. Green check mark and in-branch pre-approvals are almost always instant because you would have already been pre-screened to the criteria Chase is looking for.

Hopefully your friends referred you so they could score some UR points too.

Quick update,
Just got approved after about a 13 day wait!
$32000 limit! Chase best my previous limit by more than double holy moly!
