Hi all,

I wasn't planning to post today's approval, but since I couldn't find a single post in this section since the relaunch, I figured I'd provide some DPs for anyone thinking about it. Maybe no one cares about this card anymore, lol.

I'd been waiting for the card to reopen for new apps, and I was kinda disappointed that the SUB was 50k TYPs. So I debated since Friday whether to go for it or wait for a higher SUB. But, I have a few plane tickets to purchase, plus an upcoming international trip in a couple of weeks, so I figured I'd get to meet the SUB with 5x expenses rather than just regular spending. So, the timing was good but the SUB not so much.

DPs:

Auto-approval for $20k SL. This is my 3rd Citi card in 6 months, 2 of which are business cards (Costco biz in Aug '18 and AA biz in Dec '18).

Thick file (20 yrs+) Current mortgage, 2 current auto loans and several paid.

13/24 before app with 8 inquiries on EX (9 now). 15/24 counting business cards that don't show, but obviously Citi knows about them.

Last INQ on EX was in Aug '18 when I got approved for the Citi Costco Business. (AA was on EQ in Dec '18.)

UTIL about 1% of approx $340k.

Citi pulled EX only. Score was 759 and dropped 2 points to 757 after HP.

And this is the part that may give some people hope and why I'm posting. I have a 2011 BK7 on file and Citi was included. I looked at my BK file, and it doesn't say what type of accounts I had with Citi, but I think they were most likely retail cards because I don't remember carrying any major core cards from them.

Also, almost exactly 1 year ago, I got denied a Citi DC due to my BK -- recon failed too. This is speculation combined with DPs, but once my BK was 7 yrs old, I got Costco, AA and now Prestige. I don't know if I'd've been approved sooner for Costco or AA because I never tried, but DPs also say they're 'easier' to get. Anyway, I'm definitely pleased and also surprised about this approval and SL. Cheers...

ETA: Just remembered that I also applied for this card around 2016 and got denied. (Recon lady wasn't very nice)

Congrats! Thanks for the DP’s. I have my eye on this card. I tried to PC my TY Preferred yesterday but Citi said no. ☹️

What was the reason? They're not allowing PCs right now?

Not sure. They said I was approved (got a mailer) for PC for the new Premier but the Prestige approval did not come up. I’m not sure if it’s available for PC yet. Maybe I called too soon. She knew I wasn’t happy and gave me 5,000 TY points. Oh well.....

Sorry to hear. Could it have been related to your current CL maybe or do you have a high CL on that card?

On a similar note, Citi gave me 5,000 AA miles recently when I called to request a lower APR and they couldn't do it.

Nice! My CL is $7,800. Maybe that is too low. I didn’t think of that. I am due for a CLI on it. I would really like the Prestige card but I was trying to avoid a HP and new account.

mmm then it can't related to your CL. I'm pretty sure the minimum they approve for is $5k, so that should also apply for PCs. I'd try again with a different rep. Sometimes, it takes a few calls to get stuff done. You might find another rep more willing to help. HUCA method!

Congrats on your new card! And lol yeah from what I've read no one really thinks this card is any good especially with the nerfs made even though they increased the earning potential. As long as it works for you then that's all that matters.

haha... thanks! In all honesty, I don't quite need the card, but for me, it's always a challenge to go for certain cards that I had no chance to get before. My BK has kept me from being approved many a time, and gradually, things have improved a lot.

I was denied this card about 4 yrs ago. When I called the recon line, the rep sounded pretty sarcastic and said to me, "yeah, there won't be any reconsideration for you today or anytime soon."
