Discover 5% Approval

This approval was in my brothers name. I have been rebuilding, while helping others rebuild. Giving them valuable information about the credit world etc

My brother is 1 year post BKCH7. He burned Amex, Citi Bank, Syncrony cards and Capital One.

Only 6 months post BK I helped him check for preapprovals from Cap One. He was preapproved for the QuickSilver no AF $300 SL with credit steps. After his 4th statement cut I requested a CLI which was approved for $100. His limit is now $500 with Capital One QuickSilver.

Fast forward to today he spoke to me about continuing his rebuild and opening a second card. I told him “let’s going over your reports. See where your scores are at and what could be a good fit”. I did several prequels, Discover was the winner with two prequalified offers. He chose the 5% cash back. I explained to him not to have high expectations as the SL could be low but that there was a chance it could be denied. As his application processed a reference number appeared and then stated “Thank you for your application, it is being reviewed. You will hear from us in 5-7 days”. I waited about 10 minutes then checked to see the application status Incase he needed to call in....

BOOM APPROVAL FOR $2100! Not too bad haha

He has not received an HP yet so I am waiting to see what was pulled.

Just wanted to share with you all and also tell you that this cured my itch for apping 🤣💪🏼

Thank you! I was extremely happy for him. The SL was great as well. I told him let this card report and in a few months we can hopefully find a Travel rewards card since he is taking some big trips in a few months

Tell your brother congrats on the approval. Disco will grow with some taking care of. Discover pulled EQ for me 9 months ago. I live in NY.

Congrats to your brother! That's wonderful news!

I just got the Discover Cash Back (FICO scores all 630-ish) and they pulled EQ for me too. I was assuming they were going to pull EX so it was a surprise.

Yup Disco pulled EQ for me last year too. I wonder if it has to do with those of us who used Disco's credit score card site already having an EX FICO logged with them?

Anyway, congrats to your brother!

That's going to be a rough rebuild with some of those names he burned. Ouch. Glad that he was about to get it started right with Disco as his second pickup though!

Yeah that is what I told him. He really wants his Amex back but I told him it might take years to get back in with them.

We are in NY as well. If Discover pulled EQ then it is a miracle he was approved. His EQ is only 605!

Thank you!! I really appreciate that. I have tried to help many family members with rebuilding. How to save $$ on fees and making credit cards work for your lifestyle. At the beginning of speaking to someone who knows nothing about how credit works, they dont feel drawn to it nor care. Once I give information and they see the results, they realize I make sense.

Doubt it. I didn't have scorecard. It's probably location if it varies. They've always pulled EX for me in california
