Macy’s Amex upgrade letter?!?

So last week I was shopping at Macy’s for new comforter (Down comforter❤️) and when I went to check out, the lady ask if I had a Macy’s card?
I replied, I do, as I pulled out my Macy’s card
Associate - Would you like to apply for the Amex Macy’s card? It would give you a discount on your items, please another $100 off your comforter!
Me - really?!? Sure! I like saving money. (Like many others on this forum, I didn’t think this was ANOTHER account. As my mom and sister both have this card. I thought it was going to be added to my current Macy’s account, combination of Amex and Macy’s... well it’s not. I was approved so I received my discounts and additional $100 off the statement, which already processed.

Not two days later, I received a letter in the mail!!!
“Congratulations, Thank you for being an amazing customer! We are upgrading your store card ending in XXXX to our Macy’s American Express card!!” 🤦🏽‍♂️ I was set to get this upgrade regardless... but I took a HP just to get another card with a lower SL... hindsight 20/20... oh well

To be clear as some may have questions, my old store card is getting “upgraded” to a Macy Amex card and I applied for another card. So come May of 2019, I will have two Separate Macy’s Amex cards.

I don’t know how to post picture using the mobile app. If you know too post pic, maybe someone could explain how to accomplish this.

They pulled Experian for me.
Inquires around 7 to 9
9% utilization overall
Scores floating around 670 -680
BK7 2014
Macy’s was included.
I got my Macy’s store card 1/18 limit was $300. Today, Macy’s limit is $15k.
Limit approved for on this card $1500... yes that’s is right $1,500.00 🤣
Go figure on the limit, but I saved nearly $300 off my purchase. I keep telling myself it was worth the HP to save nearly $300 dollars.

Super Congrats on your Macy's Amex $1,500 approval!

You've got the right idea. Keep telling yourself that saving $300 is

worth the EX hard pull. Had you waited until your store card upgraded

to an Amex, chances are someone else may have bought your comforter.

I just had a thought: Macy's should allow you to combine your limits

just like an unbranded Amex card. So if you prefer, you shouldn't have

any problem converting your 15k and 1.5k cards into one 16.5k Macy's Amex

while keeping all of the history from your original store card.

Congrats again on your approval. The bottom line is that you're happy.

Your new comforter gives you comfort. Saving $300 is even more comforting.

But the EX HP? Well, 2 outta 3 ain't bad, right?! Thanks for sharing!

Congrats on the 2x Amex cards! Might be able to combine them down the road, or get a CLI and then combine.
