Denied CSP, then approved for AMEX Gold

Have some high spend coming up, so I figured I'd get a sign-up bonus on it. Applied for the CSP, got a pending review message, called recon, no dice. So I app'd the Gold since AMEX doesn't do a HP if denied. Got instant approval, very happy with Amex.

HP from the CSP only dropped my score a few points.

And haven't seen a HP for the Gold.

Sorry, got too excited about the Gold approval and forgot to include the CSP denial reason and my scores.

Chase said denial reason was Average Age of Accounts. Which makes sense I'm only 19 so not much credit history to be had.

Scores before Chase pulled:

TU = 728 w/3 HP
EQ = 731 w/4 HP
EX = 732 w/4 HP

Scores after the Chase pull was:

TU = 728 w/3 HP
EQ = 730 w/5 HP
EX = 729 w/5 HP

Hey nextup2bat,

I have the Amex Cash Magnet and from what i've read, if you're already an existing Amex card holder they won't do a hard pull if you're denied. Some have even reported not receiving not getting a hard pull after approval.

Once you've been an AMEX member for a few months it's rare to get a HP for anything. I have three cards and only have a HP from my first one two years ago. The second nine months ago and the third six months ago were both SP.
