Ugh. I pushed comenity too far....

Received my overstock card in December 2017. Been playing the comenity soft pull game monthly since then. Started out at $500 got it all the way to $19,500 last month. Got greedy tonight and hit the LUV button. Hard pull. They did bump me to $21,000 but so not worth the hard inquiry. Going to make it worth it and buy myself a toy. Very upset with myself. I should have known better.

I wouldn’t kick myself if I were you. I would look at it as one giant CLI in 14 months for 1 HP.

21k is impressive enough. Being Comenity, i would be very careful overall with your overall credit because while you may only be going for a sp increase, if you are applying elsewhere and they sp your account, they like to use any excuse like too many inquiries and shut everything down. Not saying itll happen but its out there and 21k isnt chump change lol.

Always freeze your reports before requesting a CLI.

Actually leave them frozen all the time and only unfreeze as needed.

Agree. In the grand scheme of things, unless you were planning on something like a mortgage, a HP isn't really the end of the world. Admittedly, if you got greedy that's kind of the end result sometimes, right?

This is a win my friend! LOL. When I read the headline "Iv'e pushed too far", I thought, "oh, my... they must have closed the account". You're doing okay... :-) Perhaps, step away the computer for a bit and try to relax.

I agree. I would take a HP for half of that CL.

Sorry about the HP. Same thing just happened to me (btw, mine was EQ). Although I did get two CLI out of it on that card (Wayfair) , plus another Commenity card 2x also on the same HP. Did you try for 2X?

But your 21K CL is still well ahead of mine. Congrats on the CLI.

Congrats on the CLI and credit limit - that being said +100 on what AJC mentioned, push Comenity too much (whatever that is) and they will close all your accounts in a heartbeat.

I refuse to do ANY business with Comenity however my DW has a BJ's Wholesale club card backed by Comenity which is good for 10 cents off per gal on gas - typically already the cheapest in town - with a $12,800 CL. Would she qualify for a CLI with this card, yes and she would easily be bumped to $14k - $15k, but what is the point? I/we would never spend or carry more than $5k with this card saying we purchased furniture or appliances, so there is no "need" for a CLI or to wake the Comenity monster-of-shutdown.

Just another vote for Comenity caution which is not meant to diminish your CLI success

Some great points all around. I'm not as bummed that I actually received an HP. It's more about where it came from. I've been avoiding asking for an CLI on my Chase cards because I really don't feel like taking an HP for a CLI ever. I'll never even come close to spending $21,000 on overstock. They're just typically an easy target for an SP CLI and I may have had too many beers when I pushed the button. I definitely won't be hitting it anymore. Don't want to wake the sleeping Comenity dragon.
