NFCU Cash Rewards Approval 2 Days After Graduating a Secured Card + Data Points

So this is my very first post in the forums. I've been reading and following others on here for about a year now.

This week has been very kind to me. I opened a secured nRewards Card ($300.00) in December of 2018. On the 15th of this month, it was graduated to an unsecured card and they gave me a SL of $2000.00. This was the highest limit of any of my cards. I never received an email or anything. I called Customer Service to make sure I was seeing things correctly in the NFCU phone app. After the rep confirmed everything, I immediately asked for a product change and switched over to the More Rewards AMEX. After telling the wife the good news, I got super curious. I remembered reading about NFCU and their love for HPs. I fugured instead of burning a HP on a CLI, I'd just app for a new card. After thinking about it for a few days, I decided that today was the day that I'd pull the trigger. I went online, started the process on the Cash Rewards CC, and held my breath while the screen did its thing. I was instantly approved for a SL of $15,000! My brain melted and I lept for joy! After that, I called Credit One and cancelled their card with excitement in my voice. I think once the card arrives, I will PC to the Flagship Card since I travel a ton. I didn't originally apply for it because I honestly didn't think I'd 1) get approved and 2) get a SL above the min. of $5k for said card.

DATA POINTS

Before today's app - 7 CC's with limits ranging from $300 - $2,000

Current FICO scores - EQ 661, TU 690, EX 677

NFCU pulled TU

Inquiries (hold your breath) - 20. Mostly from car shopping, refi, cell service, and landlord credit check. Moved from Alabama to Montana.

No collections

One 30 day late from 2016

Current Utilization - Floats between 3% and 11%. It was 4% at time of app

Congrats, nicely done. Started with a secured card with Navy and now have SL of 22k, 16k and CLOC of 15k so take care of them and you will do great. CLOC is a nice option to have, in your case I would wait for some of those inquires to age to 12 months before you apply, its a different department that pulls credit seperately but when the time is right give that a try.

The timing was spot-on! Congrats! on going all in and reeling from the pond a very nice new NFCU Approval!

Nice SL for certain and it will easily go to 25K in no time.

Ive been seeing mentions of a CLOC but don't know much about it. I'll be researching that this evening to get a full understanding. Congrats on your lines!
