Shopping Cart Trick @OverStock!!

I have a "Thin " credit file and since the only charge card(Valero Gas) I had decided to only report to Equifax only,

I thought if I can get another one without hurting my score, why not?! I researched a bit and found out that OverStock

have a pretty good chance going through with a "Soft" pull and few sites reported that although they ask for full SSN,

they only do a soft pull!

Well I got the pop up, agreed to the offer and with a bit of a concern as to getting hit with a "Hard" pull, I submitted the application.

In few second got the "Approval" message for $5000 CL! Another few minutes and got an "Alert" message from Experian informing

me that they "blocked an attempted credit inquiry"! I totally forgot that I hve locked my credit file!

Can someone tell me what did happen?! Don't get me wrong, I'm happy I got a charge card with a decent CL without a hard pull!

The shopping cart trick doesn't work anymore. Comenity does hard pulls. You got an alert because they tried to pull you. Since it was blocked, they pulled someone else and you either don't have monitoring for them, or it hasn't been sent yet.

You got me worried now.

I do have alert/membership for all three and nothing so far.

And thy are all "Locked". Obviously I haven't received the card but under my account page has indicated my store card, credit limit and balance

and it's letting me charge my purchase against it!

How would they pull someone else's?!

And I've had TU and EQ not notify me of an HP for hours and even a couple of days. Plus, you should double check your freezes and locks. Today, I went to temporarily lift my freeze/locks and found EQ wasn't locked. In addition, even though my EX is frozen, the app doesn't show it as being frozen.

@FireMedic1 has a thread about the SCT not working anymore. If you really got an account without a HP, that'll be an interesting data point that I'm sure a few people would be willing to test.

I just double checked all three again, they all still locked and no alerts other

than Experian's which I already explained in my original post.

True that. Hence one of his reports has to be unlocked/thawed despite what he's seeing. Even if he has an existing relationship with comenity, I highly doubt they would use an sp from another account to open this one. If that was the case, they wouldn't have tried to pull EX.

Id be very interested to see if they actually give Op the account. If they tried to pull and couldnt access, they may send a letter stating Bureau needs to be unlocked for approval. Its crazy to think sites still saying these cards are sp. Just by searching myFico, youll find that Comenity has been hard pulling almost religiously lately.

This would be the first non HP approval since Oct of last year since I had that thread. Wonder what the terms letter will have on it. Innovis, Sage Stream,ect.

Just wanted to confirm that I got my OverStock "Store Card" yesterday ($5000) and activated & registered for online access without a hitch!

The card is from Comenity Bank.

Again thank you for all the encouraging words.

P.S= I double checked all three agencies to make sure that the files are locked.
