Amex Delta Gold Approved!

I've been thinking of getting my foot in the door with Amex for awhile and there were some really good deals for Delta flights yesterday so I decided I'd go for the Delta Gold with $200 statement credit + 40K points from Delta's website yesterday. Instant approval for $1K. I was hoping I wouldn't get the dreaded $1K starter limit, but given no prior relationship with Amex whatsoever, it was pretty much expected.

Given my recent approval last month for the Discover IT with $7K SL, and after reading about some (very few) people requesting CLI immediately after approval or when the card arrives I wanted to see if you all could help shed some insight into this? 1) Will it extend the time I need to wait for the 61 day 3x request? Amex pulled Experian which is at a solid 660. I'd like to request $3K now, as there's some more flights I'm looking at.

Congrats! It’s a great card! I got the 1K SL too with a 7K Disco. 😂 Mine might turn into a Delta Blue in a year so I can get a Delta Platinum though.

I would go ahead and try for the CLI. The last month or so, people have been getting lucky. I wish I knew.

I see repeatedly on this site that this card (Delta gold) is the easiest AMEX to get. I never really understood how because no one ever explains but I was on AMEX site and noticed there is a non gold version of this card. Wouldn’t that card be even easier to get?

I wouldn’t say it’s the easiest but generally these cobrand cards have lower UW requirements then some of the others. Delta card in particular don’t have great earning ratios because they are more status driven (priority boarding, free bags). Those are things you have to pay money for a ticket to even use.

I feel most AMEX cards are generally easy to get once you become a member. I’m a 678 EXP and I’m preapproved for every card other than a platinum.
