Union Bank rewards visa Approval 12.5k

First I would like to thanks @Mahraja @FinStar @Gmood1 and @woodyman100 for some of your DP's that made me decide whether to apply or not for this.

Well wanted one more CC that pulled Experian since I have only had 1 HP in the last year and that card ended up being Union Bank.. I read alot of scary things on here about them and how inquiry sensitive they are along with their verification questions.. I can't really answer the Inquiry sensitive part as only had 1 HP on Experian in last year and that was a month ago. Although the Verification Question were TOUGH! They had me shaking as one wrong answer and well you know how that goes. I had to yank out my CR and thankfully it had a really old phone number on it that they asked me with a few other pieces of info. Had to run out to my car while applying before time out to get my license plate number and what not lol.

Anyways it all ended up good with a 12.5k approval which i think is certainly fair and mobile pay at 5x points is pretty cool.. I wanted another "challenge" card and a card to be slightly different than most as expand my lender base.

Ended up being an instant approval. Gotta love those!

Stats:

Experian pulled this will be 2nd hp on Exp in last year

Score pulled assuming 08: 797

Income: six figures

Obviously no lates, etc..

Any other questions feel free to ask. I never thought i would say this, but I am off to the garden!

Actually appears my score was a few points higher than DP as got alert from Experian. So close to 800, just cross it why dont you dangit!

looks like we both got the same SL's lol.. Least I tied you with this one vs lagging behind maybe being in the house over the year is starting to pay off? . How is their interface on the web for account maintenance? Is the card just a platinum or signature, not that it really matters. I will take my $100 for 1k spend and call it the day, not the best bonus, but had to get the last app out it was between: union bank, discover and bofa.. Discover crossed out as already with them and knew they would of been so kinda and offered me like 1k at their best APR as was pre-qualified so passed on that, BofA I have pretty much ceiling credit with them although pre-qualified for all their cards through set apr offer so found this "gem" today and decided why not.. Wonder what it will be like trying to actually be in the garden now?

Congrats ... keep hangin' with the gang and you will have to use a spread sheet to manage all the accounts The rewards are very lucrative on this account.

lol i actually cancel alot of my cards as well with subpar cls, aprs or rewards. I am sitting on about 18 majors on personal credit and a few store cards being lowes and care credit then about 6 business cards so hasnt come down to a spread sheet as of yet other then i do know when the AF's are coming on the big boys that make me cringe everytime like Gold/CSR, etc. Something about the rush of whether it will be an approval or denial? Maybe it is due to all my reports being clean that i can get whatever i want now mainly that don't have an x/12 or x/24 rule around it? Anyways as stated i am going to really try to remain in the garden till the end of the year if not longer unless a bonus comes that i just cant say no to . Last week I cancelled 3 personal cards btw.

It's a signature. The web interface isn't highend or anything, but not overly complicated. Pretty easy to navigate.

Making payments and redeeming rewards is easy. They waste no time getting your rewards out to you, once the SUB is met.

I apped for this low hanger this year and got a letter saying they couldn't verify my info and didn't even HP. So, maybe I hit them on the wrong day when their CRA interface was down.

quite possible they certainly appear to hit LN for the questions and have an old report near you being a SP experian report as some of the questions had me quite puzzled trying to remember things from 15 years back.. Nasty verification I thought i might of failed it as one or two questions i was fuzzy on. They certainly pull Experian

It didn't even go that far. I have since then though went scrubbing obsolete info from all 3 reports to prevent some of the dumb questions that come up. I had a little escapade with HSBC and their myriad of questions. LN should probably be my next target as an aggregator they have a ton of old info as well to deal with or maybe just freeze them for good.

Looks like a cool card, this blurb in the reward terms kind of concerns me:

4Points you earn during the billing cycle will be added to your rewards point balance within seven days after the end of the billing cycle.2. LIMIT ON POINTS EARNED: You will earn 5 points for each $1.00 of Net Purchases only for the first $6,000 of Net Purchases made during the first 12 months after Account opening using Mobile Wallets. You will earn 3 points for each $1.00 of Net Purchases only for the first $6,000 of Net Purchases made during each calendar year at Restaurants. You will earn 2 points for each $1.00 of Net Purchases only for the first $6,000 of Net Purchases made during each calendar year at Grocery Stores and Gas Stations. No limit on earning points for all other Net Purchases (excluding purchases at Mobile Wallets, Restaurants, Grocery Stores and Gas Stations).3. I think they just mean you need a checking account to get the 1.25 cents, which would make sense, but I hope you don't need it to get 1 cent per point.

btw the HP didnt come throgh until after the verifications questions were answered which was kinda nice.. I suppose it saves people a HP if they fail the questions.. Once I finished the questions and it spun for only about 5 secs i started to get all kinds of my alerts going off.

What I meant is maybe the connection between LN and them might of had an issue the day you tried to apply or something along those lines

@kdm31091 very good catch gotta love the terms that barely any of us read full through which I am certainly guilty of. If that is case I would open up an account when I found enough worth cashing out at some point, otherwise if it isnt the multipler then I would just not open an account with them as if you read any of my Chex's woes since building a new house you would understand why and it is froozen for awhile until Chex's gets their act together and not to accumulate any more inquiries for 6-12 months on Chex's.

Synovus makes you cash out to their checking/savings account which is fine as I have one and they use TSYS for that. So certainly possible. Thanks for catching that I guess ill just have to play it day by day or someone else that has the card such as gmood or fin mahraja can possibly answer.

Meh... congrats on being the lucky one!

I went another route and picked up plenty to make up for them. I dug around here and other sources and found less talked about cards and threw darts at them for specific pulls. 3 of them were denied based on geo restrictions. 1 for inq's, and the last for a double app attempt with Barclay's.

Things get interesting when you're gardening from the big banks but still able to pull off minor banks into the mix.

Congrats on the approval.

I was declined a few years ago based on verification and also did not get a credit pull.

I wonder if you app in branch if they would still require all those questions. I move yearly for my job, so it's impossible for me to remember all that stuff.
