Started my rebuilding journey around 3 years ago, and one of the first cards I was approved for was the Discover IT Secured. Flash forward somewhere between 12-18 months, and that card graduated with an increased CL of $750. Today, more than a year (closer to two) later, the card is still stuck at $750, despite many presses of the luv button. I've made significant progress in my rebuild, and now have the following accounts (from most recent to oldest):

Amex Bonvoy Brilliant: $3100

BoA Cash Rewards: $5500

Amex Delta Gold: $1000 (denied the 61 day 3x CLI around 1 month ago)

Citi Secured: $300 (won't budge, didn't graduate the first time around for whatever reason)

Discover IT: $750

I decided to check out the Discover prequal offers, and I was prequalified for all of their cards. Mostly convinced that my card was bucketed, I decided to apply for the Discover IT cashback (hoping to combine them at some point). Lo and beyold... APPROVED WITH AN SL OF $9000! Now I'm entirely convinced that Discover bucketed that card, but I am grateful (and shocked) for the SL.

Long story short, if you believe you've been bucketed, you probably have.

Plenty of DP's on this getting stuck in a rut.

To combine you need the following:

Card has to be at least 12 months old

Card has to be eligible for a CLI (don't accept it and call in to combine)

Either move some or all of the CL to the card you want to keep and collect your CLI in the same call

Great approval and it shows you earned your credit. Enjoy your new found credit! Sometimes Secured Cards just don't move (speaking with experience).
