Approved WF Platnium

I received a "target" mailer from WF today.... the tag line was "Happy Balance Transfer Day" and offered me the Platinum card with no "cash" or points-type of SUB but a BT/NP offer of 0% for 18mo.

I did the app online (late night on the west coast US) and I immediately got a pop-up email from Experian that WF had done a HP... A few minutes later I got an email from WF that essentailly said "We need to verify a few pieces of information before we can give you a credit decision." Of course, my first thoughts were ... great a new HP and with nothing to show for it! grrrrrrr!

I called into the 800-number this morning and the recorded message was that I was approved for the card and a SLI of $5000.

I was relieved as I know WF can be somewhat of a trickey issuer to get approvals from (I have no current banking relationship with WF) and I was a little worried about the number of HPs I have that are on my CR.

Seeing as how the system said I was approved, I decided to call their credit department to ask about a slightly better SLI. Once I got a live agent, she asked me what kind of SLI I was looking for. I told her something in the mid-$8,000 range (my highest card at present is $13,000 and average CL of all cards is about $7,000). She asked me what were my plans for the additional limit (about $3,000 more) I told her that I really wanted to move over all my current balances on other cards (about $2500) and that I didn't want my util rate on the new WF card to be higher than 50% at most... She said that she understood my plan and thought it was a good idea. She put me on hold to get approval.

About 2 miuntes later she came back and said she got approval for $9,000! I thanked her. She said the new card was under process and that I should get it in about a week or just a bit more.

All-in-all I can't complain... given what I've read about WF and the fact that I have no present-day banking relationship with them... and considering that I have (IMHO) a little bit of a high number of new accounts and HP's on my CR, I figured I did well. I was a little unsure about calling them asking about a higher CLI (thinking they might take a second look and my app and change their mind and deny me!) but I figured that I might as well since they had a fresh HP and I though I had a good explaination.

pre-WF app FICO EQ741, TU746

total HP showing = 6

Inq more than 1yr, less than 2yr = 2

Inq more than 6mo, less than 1yr = 2

Inq 6mo or newer = 2

AAoA = 4.7yrs

Total Util= 11%

No current WF banking relationship (but I did have checking more than 10 years ago - closed without any overdue/overdrawn)

Good point! I did include the account number of the one big account (at BoA) that has most of the balanace that I'd be looking to transfer over, when I did the online application -- so they should already have it ... if not, I'll be sure to make that happen.. after all, this card really has no cash/point SUB, so the 0%-for-18mo really IS the only SUB to speak of... I'd be foolish to not use it as such.. thanks for the head up!

Wells Fargo,don't have a good answer for why

except that I just park some money there.

Point being treat ty

them nice and you can have a nice

relationship with them.

I rolled all but $1,000 of that same

card into a new Propel card,

They are very easy to deal with moving card limits,

at least in my expierience.
