NFCU Cash Rewards Approval

I finally pulled the trigger. I called yesterday to see if I had any prequalified cards. The CSR told me I was prequalified for every card they had. I got an interest rate reduction on my existing platinum card from 18% to 15.99% which I thought was a small reduction, but I wasn’t going to complain. I applied today for the Cash Rewards Card, and got approved for $25K!! The interest rate on the account is 12.99%.

Congrats on your Approval and Rate Reduction.... Curious on what your Transunion score was at the time of applying . That's a huge starting limit . How much time did you have between card applications ?

My TU FICO 9 in the NFCU app that was pulled on 10/4 was only a 684, but I’ve seen a massive uptick in my credit monitoring apps this month, some scores up to 732, so I feel it was close to 700 when I applied. I’ve had my Platinum Card for 2 years next month, SL of $3k, no missed payments, and current balance of $370. I have also had a vehicle loan and currently my mortgage through NFCU, both with no missed payments. Vehicle loan was refinanced thru DCU for a lower rate a few months ago.

So I may have gotten a little over zealous and applied for a CLI on my Platinum card, figuring I’m not going to be applying for credit for a while and if NFCU is going to double tap me with hardpulls, at least they’ll both fall off at the same time in 2 years. I requested a CLI to $25k, with zero expectation of actually getting it. I got the 24 hour message last night, woke up this morning, and see that they increased my credit line on my Platinum Card from $3k to $9k!!! That’s $31k of credit in 24 hours from the same bank. Take care of your accounts with NFCU, put some time in (2 years for me), and you will be rewarded! I can’t wait to see how much my credit jumps now that my overall utilization will be almost non existent. My overall balance across all my cards is around $1500.

Very nice!! My goal is to get to the point where NFCU is my one and all for banking/credit needs.
