Amazon Store Card (Sync let me back in!)

In a series of youthful mistakes, I burned them across multiple accounts and they've (reasonably) held that against me for a very long time. After years of occasionally trying, and being denied, I decided to give Synchrony (via Amazon) a shot once more.

It seems they have *finally* had the heart to forgive me as they instantly approved a $2100 Amazon Prime Store Card 13 months after my last denial from them.

Amex gave me my first card ($5K BCE) with them also a couple of weeks ago. Now, back to the garden.

FWIW, Sync, of course, pulled TU as they always do for me. My TU FICO 8 is approximately 720 (not sure precisely what it is atm as there have been some minor [positive] changes since the last time I saw a true FICO for it). At the time of my last application with them it was about 90 points lower in the 630'ish area. 1 baddie remains on my Equifax and TransUnion, though it should be timing off fairly soon. Experian report is now clear.

Could I ask how l many years you had to wait?

I had a CareCredit go to CO status a couple of years ago -- am about to settle it for less than owed.

I would give my eye teeth for an Amazon card!

It took 7+ years for me, but like I said I burned them on multiple accounts. I'm not sure exactly how many but probably 4+, including an Amazon account which was actually the last Synchrony account to timeout off my CR's. It disappeared within the last month.

I kind of lost all hope in my credit for a long time when I ran into problems shortly after college. That was until I got a Cap1 pre-approval mailer a little over 3 years ago. I went ahead and took them up on that, fully expecting rejection, and was approved for $300 SL. Stupidly emboldened, around then is when I first reapplied for a Sync but it was a no go. I figured I was still hosed, so I took my Cap 1 card and happily put it to use for pretty much all expenses. I didn't apply for anything else for almost a year when I applied for another Sync and was, again, rejected. Total CL then: $500.

About 6 months after that I was approved for the next thing I applied for, another low-bucketed Capital One account. I sat on that until it credit step graduated, then I combined it into my first Cap1. At this point I was 2 years into kind of trying but still not expecting much. That was about 13 months ago and is when I really started paying attention to my credit reports and researching. Total CL then: ~$1500

I tried around then, again, to get in with Synch and was denied, again. Around that time, though, I did get approved for another Cap 1, a Discover, and a Target. Total CL at that point was approx $3,200.

Other than SP CLI's (my Discover CL has more than tripled in that year!) I didn't try to do anything else until 2 weeks ago when I tried for my first-ever Amex and got it. Then today I finally got the Amazon store card after very hesitantly and nervously clicking submit! Total CL across all cards is up to about $15,800

I had convinced myself that Sync would never extend credit to me ever again, and that was fair; I certainly wouldn't have if I were them. I kept reading people say how forgiving they were but I wasn't seeing it and that was fine.

Sorry this turned into story time, but I felt the background was kind of necessary to answer the question. Hopefully it doesn't take so long for you.

Hey, I liked story time! Plus, I think this post should be stickied in the rebuilding forum as a textbook case of how rebuilding *should* be done: starting with one card and brick-by-brick laying the foundation for building back up without trying to game the system with "skechy" trade lines to pad utilization etc.

Very impressive and again, I appreciate you taking the time ot share how you did it!

Congrats! I just got approved myself. It is a great card if you shop at Amazon a lot and have prime. Also check out the deal they have in Amazon Pantry right till the end of month and put that card into good use.

Congrats. I have two large CO's that were sold to Midland from 6 years ago. At some point I will risk a HP for something to test the waters. The Amazon card would be a good option.
