Citi Simplicity approval

It's not exactly a "dream card" of mine... it's not even a card I ever planned to get. But I got an offer from Citi in my email today, with a firm APR, for the Simplicity card.

Despite the fact that they denied my CLI request on my $4,600 DC card only a week ago, they approved me instantly for $5,800 on the Simplicity card. Pretty happy with that! Have $10.4k in total exposure with Citi now.

Normally I wouldn't bother with a new card that doesn't offer rewards - but lately I've been carrying about $5k in balances on cards with interest, so the 0% intro APR offer was a good opportunity to save some money. It'll strictly be for balance transfers, there's no room for it in my wallet

A little sad to have left the garden after 9 months of good self control, and now I'm at 4/24 which isn't helping my situation with wanting to get a CF card soon, but oh well. Worth it, I think.

Citi has always treated me great. I went through a devistating credit crisis a few years back, and Citi was the only card I kept up minimum payments on and didn't get charged off. For years, it stayed maxed out, and I only made minimum payments. The few times I paid more than the minimum, they never balance-chased me, they never increased my APR. As soon as I straightened out my credit situation, within a couple months they gave me a $1,500 CLI. And now, a year after that, they gave me a new card when still not many other companies are offering me anything worthwhile. Only a very small number of banks are giving me the time of day... oddly, Chase is also one of them, go figure.
