Citi Expedia out of spite

Normal SUB for the Voyager card is 25k. It’s currently 50k. I had a targeted offer that expired 1/31 for 50k plus $100 statement credit. Prior to the Capital One Venutre-Hotels.com promo, I used Expedia for all my non-loyalty bookings (and activities and “things to do”). So now that the Hotels.com promo is over, I will be going back to Expedia - and I have a renewed interest in this particular SUB offer. I do a fair amount of adventuring where chain hotel presence is limited and/or not the best choice.

Anyway-my EQ is frozen-and broken frozen. I’ve spent 17 hours on the phone with EQ and they still don’t know what the problem is. As of yesterday, they said they needed an additional 10-15 business days to investigate. After the first 7-10 that passed with no resolution. Ok then.

You cannot stop my credit seeking ways, EQ. I will apply just to spite you.

Citi pulls EQ for me (and sometimes EX as well), but my Googling showed that Citi was pulling EX for the Voyager. So I gave it a whirl.

“We need time to review” and no notifications about any HP’s.

So I called the last number listed on the back door thread. Spoke with a lovely gentleman and explained my EQ situation and my soon to expire targeted offer. Asked if they could pull EX or TU and if they absolutely had to see EQ, maybe could they access as an existing creditor through one of my other Citi cards? I wasn’t trying to hide EQ, it’s just not going to be pullable until after the offer expires. He asked if I would authorize him to pull EX. Of course!

Approved! Unimpressive $2k SL (although my last 3 approvals were $10K, $18.7k & $10.3K, this is not surprising-I’m at 194959950/6, 12 & 24). But what I did love is that I got a 19.74% interest rate. I know that’s eye popping for most, but aside from Chase and NFCU, my interest rates are all ~26%. So not getting the max is a good feeling.

EX 693, Util 17% (paid off $8500 over the last 3 weeks and paid off 6 cards - I’m not sure how much the recent debt pay down factored in - as this was all done since my last Citi SP).
EX INQ (6/12/24) 5/10/19,
New Accts (3/6/12/24): Don’t judge me: (2/7/16/34).
AOOA-24 years
AAOA-3 years, 8 months

Resetting my days since last new account to 0. Again.

LOL! My scores and my terms (SL & interest) would be much better with a far more reasonable number. There's also risk of AA for credit seeking. 30-something cards is sort of absurd.

It's really 37/24 but one is Apple Card (which doesn't report to EX yet) and another that hasn't reported yet, plus now this Expedia card. The 34 is what was on my report when they pulled it. 2 of those 34 are closed.

I neglected to mention the part where when he put me on hold to check my EX, I had this mild panic attack because I was NOT prepared to discuss the contents of my credit file. LOL. Like..:no, I don't want to discuss my 30+ accounts in 2 years while I'm apping for another. No, there's no good reason I opened all these cards except I wanted them - which was good enough for me, but seems to represent a troubling behavior for lenders LOL.

Thank you! And it wasn't that I hoped for any SL - this one is adequate and certainly well within the realm of reasonable given my file. It's just lower than most (maybe all?) of my bank cards. No hurt feelings at all.

it wasn't a CL I wanted, but it's the CL I deserved LOL.
