Citizens Bank—What the Fico! LOL

The tail end of a mini app spree—the card I assumed I had NO SHOT at! Thanks to @AverageJoesCredit for the WTFico reference!

Long story short: I apped and then realized that I'm an idiot and they would never take me. Assumed I wasted a hard pull on EQ, but no biggie because 2 inquiries fall of EQ within a month and its score is still at 692 even after the hard pull.

There was a wait of several days and then I got this email! I called in, expecting a limit of $500 (which at least one other person reported getting), but NOOOOO! I got $2,800 (with an APR of 20.99, which is understandably high, but presumably not their highest). Edit: Turns out Citizens offers three APRs for this card, and 20.99 is the middle number. So, not bad!

To say I'm astonished is an understatement.

What? What were you thinking, Citizens Bank?

Long story version: I just got accepted for an Amex Cash Magnet (1K limit, highest APR), much to my elation and delight. Since I was out of the garden anyway, I decided I wanted another MC or VISA (since I only have one MC at this point) and since Citi has stopped giving me preapprovals, I decided to app for Cap One Quicksilver. But that app had a glitch (much to my relief) and didn't take. That same night, being an IDIOT, I decided out of the blue to look for someplace that pulled Equifax (because that's my best score/lowest amount of inquiries), because what the heck. MyFICO told me Citizens pulled EQ, so I apped. I soon realized I shouldn't have done that, but oh well. (I didn't mention this Citizens Bank app in my previous approval thread because seriously? I thought I had no shot and was a little embarrassed at my foolishness!)

DATA POINTS:

EQ FICO 8: 692. (After the hard pull.)

Util: 58% (mostly because of some closed—but in good standing—cards that are on a low-interest payment plan). Util on open trade lines is about 5% or so.

DTI: 19%

Income: 25K

Inquiries on EQ: 3 in last 12 months.

AAoA: 6-something years

AAoOA: 20+ years

Newest account: 5 months

Baddies: 90-day-late, over a year old. Settled for less than full amount on one account. No charge-offs or anything else.

I had read on the forums that Citizens Bank was "conservative," but I guess not! I consider $2,800 VERY good for someone like me! Yes, Navy gave me $17K because they're Navy, but I never expected anyone else to give me anything above 1K at this point.

BACK TO THE GARDEN I GO! I really don't need any more cards for a while (though of course I still have plans for more eventually) and these two new cards are going to do a number on my nice average age of accounts, so I need a rest. But, these two new cards push my util over a better threshold (under 50%) so hopefully I'll regain some points too!

I have a LOC with them, but want the MC.

I have applied but got denied no HP due to inquiries.

I have 11 from last year.

So I am going to ice EQ until November then go apply in branch.

Which should be a SP.

Thats a nice card and heck of a finish a spree. My spree actually ends tonight as my Ex goes back on lockdown. I actually pulled off an extra too but meh, have to await its arrival. Congrats
