NFCU 2nd CC and CLI

Hi,

Few weeks back I applied for a CLI on my NFCU Platnum ($4600 limit) that I've had for 2 yrs and 10 months. I got denied stating I've hit my limit for my profile. This morning I applied for a CLOC in hopes to diversify my credit and was denied. So I applied for the Gorewards and got approved for $8400. My scores or 620-650 depending on the CB. Should I request on CLI on my Platnum again? I'm trying to get limits up to $25k I've been with them long enough.

Thank you! I'm trying to get a higher limit on my cards. I've been with NFCU for a while now. And I've seen friends with worse credit scores and history getting approved for 16k, 25k would love to get there.

Honestly if they recently denied you and your new card limit is 8400, it seems they may not be comfortable with extending you higher limits "right now ".

I would wait a bit . Scores aren't everything to navy and just because others may get higher limits with similiar scores doesn't mean everyone gets them.

In time you should be able to raise those limits.

Hmmm... Could be your profile. Did you receive the denial letters? It should state the reasons. Perhaps, you can address those to improve your profile?

Or maybe you've reached their internal limit at this time?

Maybe income or DTI Debt To Income?

As long as they don't close out my 1st card i guess in total my limit is $13k. If I wait the 91/3 I'm assuming they would increase the limit?

It did and I resolved those issues. Took care of the things in collections and paid down my 1st card.

If the account is in good standing, then you'll be okay. As long as you put usage on the card once every 6 months should be a safe way to avoid closure for non activity. Plus the Platinum is a great card for those BT promos.

You can also request APR reduction on the anniversary date if you haven't done so.

Yes, at your next 91/3 from 2nd card. You can try to apply for the 3rd card.

@Anonymous, Not a bad card, keep in mind ... you can product change it to the Cash Rewards or More Rewards,

by calling Navy Federal, if you find that either those might work better for you.

Just remember that the More Rewards runs on the American Express network.

If you sign into your account once in a while, check out the offers tab. Navy will display what they are offering.

All their cards are great. It all depends on your spend.
