Shell Gas Card Approval

Hey Guys,

Omgosh, I feel like you are all going to yell at me. I applied for a gas card about an hour ago (I have always wanted a Shell Gas Card) I know that's odd lmao! And I was APPROVED for $200.00 SL. They pulled Experian, FICO shows 665! Not bad I guess. As you all know I was also approved for a Target Red Card and BofA Cash Rewards Secured VISA! I'm going to refrain now and garden these cards and hopefully let them grow. Then my goal cards are: Citi, Amex, and Chase! Let's see if I can get there!

Congrats on the new card. Are there any cash saving perks for gas when using the card? Does it accumulate any kind of cash back per gallon at Shell stations ?

Yes! I can save .30 a gal (up to 20 gallons) on my first 5 Shell fuel purchases, and then after that I save .10 anytime I fill up. I also earn 10% Shell Rebates on my first $1,200 Shell non-fuel purchases - not bad!

Congrats and I agree, nothing wrong with a gas card!! One Caveat you should watch out for. Some Shell stations that charge a few cents more per gallon with credit treat a Shell card the same as any other credit card. That could wipe out your savings per gallon. There is a Shell station across the street from where I work that does with... credit vs cash is sometimes as much a 10 cents a gallon higher even with a Shell card.

When Comedity Bank issued the Marathon rewards gas card, you'd receive a $10 gift card when you reached that reward level. Had a Marathon station in Macon GA charged me the credit PPG on my gift card. Ended up paying more PG than I received with the rewards. Our local Marathon gave the Marathon CC/GC at the cash PPG. Have to be diligent with these reward gas cards.
