Just turned 18 approved

Hi everyone, I just turned 18 and found this forum - thank you all!

I was approved for cap 1 student 1,000 and the Discover student $500. Choose the chrome 0 APR for 6months -12.99%

my scores are well in the 750s before applying and due to being a AU on parents cards for years. I also know how important it is to pay in full! I have my BOA college checking set as my dedicated credit card pay account and opening PNC on campus set for my petty account- I feel more secure doing things this way. Congrats. Credit is a great thing to be aware of at that age, but one thing I regret not doing, because I didn't know any better, was to set up a brokerage and retirement accounts. I would have easily had a million dollars socked away by the time I hit 40, especially with the rise of Disney, Amazon, and Apple. If only I could go back in time with the knowledge I have now.

Congrats on the approvals! I recently also turned 18 and started this journey and I have all my accounts on auto-pay linked to my bank account as well! It's certainly great to start early!

Yes, being invested is really important! Remember, I am only 18 so my portfolio is more diverse and I am definitely not picking winners and losers on a daily baisis - that's for sure!

I just wanted to share that there have been some serious hits on my FICO scores! I mean the two original application took a total of 17 points!! Now, I personally think it's some kind of adjustment because, I have taken another 27 point hit - excessive to put it mildly. Just applied for the two cards in one day = 17 points - so not at all sure what's with the xtra points being taken off. Any opinions appreciated & thanks again for the warm welcome. Cheers

Excellent, thank you for the terminology!! I mean, if I am not applying for a mortgage or a car. Any more cards - why cares right? Pay in full every month - keep it 1% 2% and watch for the love button. I think I am right on these points but, any help is Certainly Appreciated - you all are so awesome!

This is the best site for a young person to grow up on -financially & posting mistakes and downturns help us all grow and become better at handling our own credit. So, please keep it coming!!
