Chase Freedom Approval Pending...

What do you think my chances are? I just apped on the Chase website for their Freedom card. I was given the 7-10 business day notice. I called the recon line and was told I was denied due to a bk 8 years ago, end of story. I called a 2nd time and the next lady was very nice & helpful. She reminded me that Chase was a part of my bk. I told her that I was doing better and my credit was rebuilding. She stated that my bk was indeed very old and that my chances are good for recon. She was very helpful and said she would resend my app for further review. My overall util is 15%, my payment history is spotless, I have 5 hp total for all 3 CRA. Discover/Barclay FICO TU is 718, EX 760, and myFICO EQ here is 679. My income is $25k. AAoA is 4 years old. Oldest is 8 years old.

What do you think?

Having IIB Chase I put it at less than 50%, 10 yrs post BK would have much better chancce.

I was approved!! Starting credit line $500, but I don't care. I called the recon line for a 3rd time yesterday and the gentleman added more notes to my previous recon in order to push it thru. I called the status line this morning and got the info about the approval!

Congratulations! It's always nice to get a fresh start! Recons really do pay off often (with Chase at least).

Congrats!!! Yesterday, I cameback to Chase too. I burned them in 2006 with two charge offs.....Looks like Chase is very forgiving!

Congrats!!! Im jealous, I tried to get a chase card several months back and got declined for too many new accounts. I am still waiting for them to age, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting.

I don't even have a Chase card (yet) but i definitely can vouch for the helpful service Chase recon department provides, and most with positive results.
Can't wait until summer when i pull the trigger for this cool lender. My current lines need a spring break until then

I agree CreditMagic7, The Chase recon specialist that helped me out was very helpful, not because I got back with Chase and got a nice limit, but because he didn't make me feel bad or less of a customer from the past charge offs that I had with Chase. Chase is strong bank, and is currently the largest in the US.

Thanks everyone! Without the help of this forum I would have just accepted the denial as fact. My 1st call to recon was a dead end. She said "The reason you were denied...." She offered no assistance whatsoever. So I called again 10 mins later and got the help of a very nice & understanding lady. The 3rd call yesterday was just me being impatient, and maybe a little deteremined not to take No for an answer. Thanks for your help you guys! Now, to let my score recover and get a CLI on this Chase Freedom card a few months down the road. Then apply for Slate in the distance future.

I called Chase recon completely by accident (or Providence?) and they were extremely receptive, understanding, and encouraged me to apply. She even was at the ready to check for my application with them and work on it with me.

Oddly it was a bahh! Barclay's denial i was attempting to recon which ended up as expected anyway.

I have to go for Chase sometime this year.

Omg!!! I finally got approved for a chase freedom card I have been trying sense 2008. I applied last night, I received the 10 days message they will send me a letter. Well I just knew that was a denial. So I found a recon number 888-245-0625 on who gave me credit website and called. the rep said I got denied be cuz of all the inquiries, new accounts and 1 collection. Put me on hold for 10 min and approved me with a 1500 dol cl. Yay me lol.

Congrats to the OP and ladyvg! With Chase, always call the recon line, as they are helpful and willing to work with you. A lot of people worry about burning them in the past but for a bank that big this is just a cost of business. Giving second chances is also why they are one of the biggest banks.

Congrats OP!

Chase's recon department really does work. Albeit you may have to call a few times to get what you want. When I applied I was given the dreaded "umm yea we'll call you, don't call us message". I called the recon department and the first analyst said that I was declined due to my bk. She was short and to the point and I could tell by her tone that she wasn't going to help me.

After I got off of the phone with her I got kind of pissed. So I called back and the next analyst was really cool. He asked me all kinds of questions, even noted the bk, and said that he could see that I had done a great job of building my credit back up so he approved me.

So it depends on who you get on the other end of the phone that matters. I've read that some people have called back 4 and 5 times.

I say this to say that a decline is not always a decline, so always call in (maybe more than once) because you have nothing to lose especially after you've taken an HP. Apply this to ANY creditor, not just Chase.
