Wells Fargo Platinum Card Approval!

I got both a letter in the mail and an email for pre-approval from Wells Fargo for their Platinum card and went ahead applying for it after a few weeks later as I was busy beforehand. After filling out the information I got some message of "application processing pending verification" or something similar to that. A day later on a Saturday I got a call from Wells Fargo and honestly was surprised they were working on the weekend. Asked only to verify who I was essentially name, address, phone number, last 4 digits of social then said they would send a text to my number and told me to read the number in the text back.

I've seen enough scams where they try to access your email or google account by saying they need this code number texted to you for verification being the scam they request your password to be reset and the 2 factor auth sends this code to your phone. If you give them this code and it's for your email or google account you're pretty screwed if you don't pay attention to where it came from. For the most part I knew this was Wells Fargo as Caller ID was correct along with I literally applied to them yesterday, so I went ahead and gave the code.

That was surprisingly all the information they wanted I thought they were gonna ask about my employment as I had put that I only started a month ago. Later after not hearing anything for a week I went and called (To check your application status, please call 1-800-967-9521.) went through the robots question and it immediately afterwards told me I got approved with a 6.5k SL!

Note: I am highly sure I got the pre-approval mailed letter and email because I recently paid off my HVAC Carrier credit card with them of 7k over the past 12 months. Plus this card was my in with them to building an established relationship with the bank.

@MisterWives I forgot to mention--I was able to grow my WF Plat from a starting CL of $600 (in 2011) to $25K (less than 4 or 5 years later) by requesting periodic CLIs over the phone. They are SP and the rep will tell you if the request did not go through and that a HP is needed for further review.

I waited 12 months for my first request and then asked every 6 months. I think they used to allow every 3-4 months, but it's been so long ago I've forgotten.

Also-the card comes with free cell insurance in case you don't have that on another card. Good coverage and only $25 deductible.

For the cell phone insurance do you have to purchase the phone with this credit card I assume? It's a decent option for a card without rewards since I guess it comes with other services. Might buy a phone and put it on this card then, but though I would lose out on say 2% rewards putting it on another cards that would only be $20 though if I got a 1k phone. The insurance I would say is probably worth a lot more than $20 though I will admit.

Don't have to purchase the phone, just have to pay the monthly cell phone bill with the card.
