2nd Discover Card, Discover Miles Approval

Loved the 5% and first year cashback bonus match on my Discover it card which I've had since May 2019. I wasn't sure if I'd get the cashback bonus on my second Disco card and the 0% APR for 14 months so I called customer service to confirm those two facts. They said yes, for sure, and that it was totally possible to have two cards. The app and website provide a pretty good analysis of how you earn your cash back and looking back I rarely if ever maxed out the 5% categories in my first year. I'm not one to buy gift cards at CVS or wherever just to max out a 5% category. For that reason I decided on the Discover Miles card which pays 1.5% with the cash back match at the end of the year meaning I'll effectively earn 3% on everything I spend for the next year. Instant approval and $8,500 limit. No request to call customer service or anything but perhaps that was because I was getting a different card. I've heard ppl have had to call in if they apply for a second of the same kind, like a second it card.

Congratulations OP! I just looked at your goal cards and urge you to take a look at AMEX's pre-qualify page. Those scores look good enough for the BCP or Gold Card (if you're ready to take on the Annual Fee). Just something to consider...

Not a bad suggestion. I apped for the BCP almost 4 months ago when my score was around 100 points lower and I was denied. I just checked out their pre-qualify page and it gave me the Amex Platinum, Amex Everyday and Green. For the Plat I'm not really looking for a travel card with that high of a fee since I definitely won't be traveling internationally or using airport lounges for a while for obvious reasons. The Discover is going to get me 3% on everything for the next year so the BCP would be the one other card of theirs I'd app for since it's an amazing 6% on groceries and streaming. However I'll wait for my score to get over 800 or for them to pre-qualify me before I put another inquiry on my CR.
