Capital One, continue the slow CLI grind

So on Valentines day I requested a CLI from Capital One, my SL was 10K. I asked for 26K they gave me 1K. I waited 6 months and 1 day, make another request this time for 22K. Again they gave me 1K. It's a slow grind with these guys.... up to 12K. This is my daily driver at the moment so I'd like to get more wiggle room, but I guess it will remain like pulling teeth. Thinking of switching to PCR as daily driver in begining of next year.

DP's in Sig. But just shy of 100K TCL

1 Auto Loan, other paid off last month.

Fico 8: 689

5% utilization.

Congrats on your CLI!! That's gonna be a looong time to get there. They used to combine cards to make that goal easier. No more, and Cap One has closed that CLI purse tight!!

I feel you, @Openwater.

I opened an insulting-low $1K basic Capital One Visa Platinum when my average limits were about $8K or higher. (My plan was to use it for a BT but the low limit made it useless for that.) Sock-drawered it and later PC-'d to a Quicksilver. Began to grow it sloooowwwwlllyyyy ... I think it started at $1K to $1.5K also. Not impressed. Eventually started getting a whopping $3K when I asked. A decade later, though, that card has a $25K limit. So it can be done if you're patient and work it. Capital One doesn't make CLI easy on anybody!

So congrats on those increases!

With Cap-1 if you want that kind of CL, use the full limit on a monthly basis and then ask, they want to see their lines utilized and its why I never bother asking them for a CLI. Grats on getting something out of them

@Openwater I feel your pain! On Feb 14, I got a $2,500 CLI, so I tried again six months plus one day on 8/15. Only got $1k this time, despite a 30 point increase in my FICO8 scores. I think they must be getting more stingy with the economy.

I've found that I generate 3K CLI offers by spending about 3K per month over the preceding the three to three and a half months. In a couple of cases where I was offered something less than 3K, I declined and tried again in about a month.

The slow grind ended today. I put in for the CLI and got the old "we'll send you a response in a few days" a few hours later got the response. You haven't used the card enough to get your CLI. Truth be told, I have added Apple Card and PCR to my daily drivers, and QS has taken a very far back seat. So I guess they really do focus on use...Oh well, LOL 2% is more than 1.5%
