Approved for Citi Executive AAdvantage card w/ 100k Signup Bonus

I was on the fence if I would be approved for this card since I had been approved for Barclaycard Arrival, Amex BCP, and Cap1 Venture card last month. The only reason why I was intrigued is solely for the 100k bonus. I figured I didn't have any other cards in sight for the near future, so if I apply and don't get approved no sweat. I have the main 3 cards I wanted anyway.

I applied online and was told I had to call in immediately. All they wanted to know was if I wanted to add my cell phone # to the application! I stated that the number already listed on the app is my cell phone #

She then asked what I was thinking for a credit limit. Since my Cap1 is $5k, I just threw out that number. She asked if higher would be OK and I said absolutely! She placed me on hold and came back with $7,500!

All other cards will be on hold for the next 3 months or until I meet the $10k spending limit threshold (whichever comes first.)

I am going to New York (JFK) in May, so the airport lounge access will be nice there. However, I will be closing the card come February, 2015, since $450 annual fee is way too expensive. Not sure if these card companies try to get you to stay and sweeten the deal... but I would possibly think about staying if they threw in some kind of incentive. This is my first card with airport lounge access.

I have a question though. The representative said the card would arrive within the next 7-10 business days. I think I saw other people state this card came overnight for them? Has anyone else received this card via overnight mail without asking?

I would just look to PC it next year to a lower AA card. Enjoy.

Congrats! I was instantly approved online and the approval message said "will receive card w/in 7-10 days". Never called CSR but card showed up in 2 days, followed by letter with t&c. Didn't get it in a fancy box or anything but I don't really care about that stuff anymore (it can be interesting to see how companies package things from a design and marketing perspective but some of these CC companies go overboard IMO). I'd like to tell them to spend the money on perks, not the fancy packaging.

Yeah, I'll probably PC down to another AA card then next year. What about PC to a completely different Citi card? Is that acceptable?

I'm really bummed though. As mentioned, I'm going to JFK in May. Here I'm thinking I'll get to use the lounge. Well according to this page, I won't be able to since JFK is a Flagship lounge. COME ON!

American Airlines AAdvantage Executive Platinum/Emerald customers traveling on solely North American itineraries do not qualify for Flagship Lounge access.

It looks like they have 2 Admirals Clubs and one Flagship Club at JFK , Terminal 8. The Flagship is for first class passengers and AA Elites. A lot of Airline clubs have swankier clubs for first class and elites, sometimes they even have 3 classes of clubs (first, business & the rest).

You're welcome. My DH always calls me from airports asking me to look up lounge locations for him. It just didn't sound right that they would only have 1 club for AA at JFK but I haven't been to any Admirals at JFK so I had to look it up since I may be traveling through there myself later this year.

My Fico score is 710. I do have 3 charge offs from late 2011 / early 2012. I did pay all 3 through the collection companies. (Obviously none of them were with Citi.)

CreditKarma says my score is only 666, but I heard that's not always accurate.

I had a secured CapitalOne credit card for the past 2 years and recently closed it after getting all these premier cards with bonus miles etc. I really think that credit card helped give me a big boost in credit since it reported to all 3 bureaus.

Other than the charge offs, my credit is squeaky clean. Car loans which have never missed payments on, etc.

If you're looking at getting the 100k signup bonus, I don't think it's going to still be around until October.

Thanks for the info. I think I should be ok then when my gardening ends. Need to let my inq age some. I know they don't like inq. Seems like every card I want pulls EX.
