Finally! Amex Platinum 100K offer approved!

I've been holding out for the Amex Platinum 100k MR offer for a looooong time and finally got the offer to pop up via incognito on Thursday! Since I value MR points dearly, I immediately pulled the trigger! Unfortunately, the app wasn't immediately approved - I got the "we are reviewing your application" message and then later changed to "in progress - check back in 24 hours" message.

I have my credit frozen with all 3 RAs so I thought perhaps they needed to verify my information before proceeding so I called the application status line 800-567-1083 this morning. The csr told me that since I'm an existing customer, my credit wasn't checked and they wanted to verify if I'm an active duty member of the armed forces. After I gave my response, my app was immediately approved. Yay! -Got this email:

Of course as a myficoer, I asked the csr to confirm the 100k MR offer + 10x on groceries and gas for 6 months for $5k spend in 6 months. It was like sweet music to my ears as he read it. Easiest 100k MR points ever!

I'm going to downgrade to green after 1 year if I don't get an amazing retention offer since I already have the Schwab/Morgan Stanley versions (both keepers).

Question for you - have you tried using more than one of these platinum cards to gain access to a centurion lounge say to bring in a couple guests or family members?

A Platinum cardholder can already bring 2 guests in with them. Are you talking about using 2 of your Platinum cards to bring in 3 or 4 guests? You might get away with that if you brought in 2 guests, left, then re-entered with 2 other guests using your 2nd Platinum card.

More reliable bet might be if you're a family is to spend the $175 and name your SO as an AU, an Platinum AU card also has access rights with 2 guests.

Thank you! I guess you can say that Fortunately they all work for me with the amount of flying I did and anticipate to do in the future.

I have a family of 4 so with my DW as my AU (free with the Morgan Stanley version), we have had no issues gaining access to the centurion lounge.
