Greetings MFers,

Now that I'm done with surgery, big spend dental work is coming up. I was going to just use my BofA CashRewards since I'm 0% until Julyish, but my local CU flashed a promo at me while I was logging in to pay my bills the other day, and I'm a sucker. 12mos at 0% + $100 (points, whatever) for $1000 spend in 90d. You get a bigger bonus for $50,000 spend in a year, but if I have that much non-cat spend, I have bigger issues.

I called to see if they would expedite the card (it was a deal breaker if I didn't get it before next week's appt), and they said that they can make a card at their headquarters if I applied in person.

So I did. Only, their card maker is broken - but have no fear, they think I'll get my contactless one in time, and if I don't, they'll make me a temporary the day before my appt - they are down the street from the dentist, but my appt is 7A.
I applied in person, thought about bringing my POI in, but didn't (I have chequing, savings, and my auto loan through them - they've always been good to me) and hoped for the best.

DPs:
HP - Equifax (they use Equifax data, but the Experian Fast Start score - my F8 is 809, not sure about the Ex/FS score)
My last HP was 3/19 from the same bank for Butterface's auto-loan.
Accounts: 1/3 2/6 4/12 8/24
AAOA: 297mo, AoAA 49m, AoYA 3m

Everything goes to manual review, so I just sat there and waited (much like my autoloan), took ~10 minutes, guy apologized for it taking so long, and they did ask if I had POI on me, I did not, so they capped my SL at 10k.
0% for balance transfers & new purchases for 12 months, 12.15% after that. Balance transfer is 1.5%, which isn't too bad, really (though I'm not interested).

Due to COVID, they have restricted hours (1-4), so I left early. When I told my boss I was going to the bank to get another credit card, the reaction was funny (and then she wanted to know if she should ask USAA for an interest reduction - hers is great, so I said to leave it be - she PIFs anyway).

And I've been REALLY happy with this CU. They don't have the greatest credit products, but they've been fan-freakin-tastic to work with. I wish I'd looked into them for a secured card when I needed it, because they do offer one (Secured, regular Plat, and then the Signature are their only three CCs).

Metal is kind of fun and exciting when you get your first new shiny one.

After a while when it gets kind of worn and scratched and the excitement wears off you're left with realizing that you're lugging around a card that weighs more than twice that of the plastic equivalent.

When the plastic covering the metal core starts to delaminate and the card ends up looking pretty ratty you'll realize that a metal card turns out to be a mixed blessing after all.

There is a decent alternate use for an all-metal card like the AMEX Platinum though - in a pinch it does a pretty good job in scraping off the ice on your windshield on a cold morning.
